At least at this point the strongest winds are not mixing to the surface. Haven't seen any reports of winds over 70 in a while outside of one report from a NWS employee 15 minutes ago of 85MPH at Wall Lake SD. Seems like an outlier right now.

That being said there was just a report of golf to baseball size hail in Murray county MN.

Sioux Falls is going to get smacked.
At least in my area of Sioux Falls this was less intense than the two significant storms we had back in May. No power lost, don't see any significant branches down in my immediate neighborhood. Did look like the strongest radar echoes were a bit south though.

Did have a bit of hail, largest was penny sized with most being pea

I saw a tweet reporting 96 mph in Huron, SD

Any realistic chance this gets down to Des Moines? KCCI seems to be the only one reporting anything for the Des Moines area.

Yeah that was a while ago now. This also is not moving very quickly. Think back to both the derecho in 2020 as well as 2011. Both of those had storm motions 50-70+MPH. This one is around 15-30 right now it seems. 50-70 storm motion alone is likely to cause damage.

Just visiting myself, but they are burying lines for Google just down the street. I don't know if any parts of WDM have customers up and running yet.
The area near 22nd and Ashworth is supposed to be online. Conduit got installed in my neighborhood around February. Now there are depth markings at all the crossings, so hopefully soon.

Feel like this should definitely be part of the formula to classify a true derecho. TWC wins again. Now Every Karen that hears some thunder is like “is this going to be a derechio?”

My parents in Boji lost power awhile ago.
