***Official 2022 Weather Thread***

Just dropped snow totals to 1-3 inches from Omaha East. Ice freeze-dried of pavements and no snow on I80 yet.

Looks like a weather underground has 1” for Ames and not starting till almost 1pm. Not looking too bad for central Iowa.

Anyone been on I-35 heading north from Des Moines towards Minnesota this morning? Iowa 511 says “seasonal” conditions, but it also said that yesterday afternoon when it was an uncontrollable ice rink.

In laws said as of last night it was really icy until about 10-15 mi south of Highway 20, then it was fine. Not sure if that’s changed overnight though.

Looks like this will be a dud for central Iowa and massive for southern Iowa. Sound about right?

In the clear lake area and we got nothing yesterday. Just cold up here.

Planning to go, leaving early and taking the interstate instead of back roads I normally do as I assume they will be in better shape, especially after the game.

I was in the mess late yesterday afternoon stuck at a standstill 10 miles north of Ames on I35 for an hour. I got out and checked the road and it was just wet but I'm sure there were some slick spots that caused the accidents. Once we got moving again it was just wet road all the way into DSM driving about 45-50 most of the way

The interstate is a death trap during inclement weather.

it was fine from Des Moines to Ames this morning.

my friend drove from Des Moines to MSP yesterday and it was a ***** to story city and then fine.

Snow has really picked up the past hour down here on the Iowa/Missouri border, large flakes and the roads are totally covered according to the DOT map. It will be interesting to see if we get the lower or upper range of what they have been predicting.
