***Official 2022 Transfer Thread***

Fred did fine with them. Nader, Jake, Kane, Booker...I think you could call that 3/4, with one grand slam. Nader might just be a two run shot.

The guy who brought in all the disappointing mid major guys had some other serious flaws as coach. I don't think we should be basing everything off of our experiences with him.

TJ has spent much more time around p6 basketball and specifically the big 12. I trust his ability to evaluate and identify big 12 caliber better than his predecessor.
Agree with your point on coaching but statistically speaking, transferring up has an impact on performance (no duh). Here’s a good article from 2020

I completely forgot about Jake and Nader. I wouldn’t call Booker much of a success.

Hence 3/4.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to go with Prohm's strategy of bringing in almost exclusively mid major guys but there are good ones out there. It's about finding the right fit.

Just think about Fred's 3 successes, Jake, Nader and Kane. All guys that came in as p6 players physically and athletically. Can't say that about most of Prohm's guys.

The other benefit those guys had that the players Prohm brought in didn't, was there really wasn't a ton of pressure on them. Kane had a big role but he also had Ejim and Niang already here. Coming in to the season, he was really only asked to play 3rd fiddle to those guys. Jake's season was a rebuild.

Prohm had a lot of mid major guys come in to play big roles on a teams expecting to go to the tourney.

So if it were up to me, I'd hope TJ was looking at size, athleticism and their ability to handle the role they'll be asked to play.

I don't think Prohm was much of an Evaluator of talent. I mean he hit a home run with Tyrese Haliburton. However, the rest of the guys were ranked pretty high that panned out. The guys that didn't were not heavily recruited guys. It's pretty easy to evaluate players that everyone wants. He just sucked at figuring out real talent.

Am I dreaming too much to say I hope AJ Green and Dawson Garcia transfer to ISU next year? They would be perfect for our team
Yes. Even IF they were to enter the portal, they would be 2 of the most sought after transfers of the spring.
