Thing is I think we have technically had more success in the 3rd round than any other round.
Hunter
Dantzler
Mattison
Although second round has been good to us as well.
Cleveland
O'Neill
Irv Smith.
Would like to see us keep a single 4th, maybe 2 3rds, and a second.
Ah, right. I was listening to the Vikings draft radio party and PA kept saying 4 each, so I went with that. But, you are right.
Still, that should be enough ammo to get up a couple times if they choose to do so.
Maybe there’s unseen potential there but I would not like this.
I like the option of trading for Lock from Denver. Cheap backup with possibility of some high side. Also could probably get him for like a 6th round pick.
Talking heads are projecting both of these guys going in the 2nd round. I think the Vikes will concentrate (I hope) on Edge and Safety when they trade up to the 2nd.
Hope the Vikes can get S Jevon Holland or DE Carlos Basham.
Okay, I was confused by Hunter then. Kendricks, Cook and Alexander were as far back as he was.
Perkins, Ojulari, Ossai and Bashman Jr are the only rush ends worth going up for Minnesota..
I really love that they solved LT with their #1 pick.. Outside of getting a top rush end, Rick can go best player available for tonight
Need another guard, safety, wr, qb for sure.. But none are glaring needs since I believe they will sign a vetern guard as fall camp approaches.
My prediction is you see a lot of offensive and defensive lineman go in round 2 tonight. All those teams who took QB's in round 1 will want to protect their new franchise stars or will want to go head hunting or other teams' QB's

I like this list, but I think Ojulari is too small for Zimmer's protype and he has medical concerns with his legs (which is probably why he's sliding back).
If the Vikes go Safety in round 2, and then Edge in round 3, I'd add Rashad Weaver out of Pitt.

Daniel Jerimiah last night said he's actually really good against the run and only 20 years old.. I bet Ojulari is taken top 10 tonight because he's the best 3-4 outside LB left.. and again, only 20 years old

This would surprise me a great deal.
Take a consolation prize QB who is going to sit on the bench for two years, then probably get drafted over—when you have much bigger, more immediate needs? No way.
Maybe a QB in the late 4th or (more likely) 5th.
I'm with "stu" - Cousins takes up a lot of $ and guarantees mediocrity. This Vikings regime has shown they have no clue how to develop an OL or a QB. Admittedly, Teddy blowing his knee leaves a possible "coulda woulda", but this team needs to have some plan for QB after Cousins, which is hopefully sooner than later. I'm all-in for trading into the 2nd for Mond or maybe Mills. Don't bother a flyer on a 7th-rounder or UFA.
Would also like to see more OL & DLs taken, rounding out with some DBs and a WR in there somewhere. Don't want Rick's usual bevy of trading back for half the 7th round. Let's try quality over quantity for once.
