good luck being a ball hog one a team with actual talent
I really don't like this take. 1) Court vision was not his strong suit. 2) Our offense seemed to call for other players to stand still when Rasir drove. Who was he supposed to pass to? Bottom line - he was playing out of position on a bad team without shooters or off-ball movement.

This is what I am talking about. Bolton was a good player on a really bad team. His game isn't perfect but he was forced into a role that doesn't align with his skillset. Our team and our offense sucked. Of course one of the couple guys that could score was going to take a lot of shots.

I guarantee he isn't expecting to have the same role on Gonzaga. I think Mark Few knows what he is doing.

I don’t question Mark Few, I question Bolton having the role he wants

If Bolton was primary ball handler or bust, I doubt he would have ended up at Gonzaga.
This. This is a win win for Few. He gets an All-Big 12 talent at guard and the worst case scenario is he doesn’t play him much and it doesn’t hurt his team at all.

There’s actually a high chance Rasir won’t be starting, and honestly that’d be great for Rasir, but he wouldn’t take that type of roll on a team like ours (a bad one).

I’ve already seen some people take a shot at TJ for not keeping Bolton and I just think we all need to remember that just like the transfers we’ve gotten and will get in the future, sometimes a change of scenery is what is needed for everything to click: physically and emotionally.

I guess I don’t know what Gonzaga has returning/coming in, but I’m assuming he isn’t slated as a starter is he? If he is(or just plays a lot of minutes off the bench) it’ll be interesting to see if he’s still a black hole or if good coaching/teammates makes him a good team player.

Taking Suggs place as PG and primary ball handler.

(Is that pirate needed?)

Nembhardt is a lock to start and I'd imagine Salis at the other guard spot.

Yes lol they still have Nembhard and bring in Hunter Sallis, who will be the PG.

Their starting 5 will be:

Sallis
Nembhard
—————
Holmgren
Timme

Well that proves the criticism of Rasir was pretty wrong.
Dumb take. The criticisms have never been the talent level, but rather the role and fit with the team. Him going to Gonzaga doesn't change any of that.

Happy for Rasir and, assuming he's ready for/buys into a bench scorer roll, he'll do great at Gonzaga.

Good luck to Rasir at Gonzaga. That's a great program to join and I hope he does well. I don't know anything about personality conflicts or lack of coachability - I live too far away to hear that stuff. But he was in a bad situation this year with the team ISU had and I think he was our best player. GREAT first step when attacking the rim.

Wow, our resident Hawkeye experts will have a real hard time with this - surprised GZ didn't line up Bohannon or McCaffrey...

I think this could be a situation which is better for both parties - ISU and Bolton. He may really benefit from not being THE guy and having to toe the line in a top program, while not shouldering so much. I doubt he'd have filled the role TJ - or other coach at non-elite program - would want. Hope it works well for him.
