Bit surprised with Gabe transferring. The thought with the gopher media was he was fully in and had a previous "strong" relationship with Ben Johnson thus wouldn't be testing the waters. He may end up back at U of M though my curiosity is peaked.
I trust that the staff are better talent evaluators than me, and I’ve never watched this young man play. The thought of another undersized “combo” guard with dubious stats and a A/TO ratio of 1 kinda makes me nauseous, though.

The guys getting paid the big bucks have to look at kid and project into their system. Previous stats only tell you so much.

DJ Horne from Illinois State is transferring as well. Led the Valley in 3 pt % and was Top 5 in scoring on a bad team. Might be worth a kick of the tires.
On 31 attempts. He also shot 50% from the free throw line... on 8 attempts. It’s probably not fair to judge too harshly either way. Like I said, I’ve seen enough guys here recently labeled “combo guard” because they don’t have the skill set to play 1 or 2 well. I’ll trust Otz & co, though.
Just curious on these Texas Tech transfers. Obviously with Beard leaving, we would expect several of them to jump. But would you expect more of them to transfer to Texas to join Beard or more of them to choose a whole new (not Texas) environment? Interesting is all.
The 4 year stay at one school player is in danger of becoming extinct. I understand there are plenty of legit reasons to transfer but things are becoming ridiculous. Not sure what the transfer portal number is at but it's got to be a crazy number.
