I’ve said this a few times but he’s already brought in a high level transfer from Pitt who was a package deal with his brother, 6’6” 5 star shooting guard.

Lol yeah forget that there’s a new record for transfers every year.
I don’t think people understand that if anything, transfer game has changed to help out schools like us. More guys are transferring now more than ever so there are immense opportunities to find guys that can replace key contributors who left or add onto an already existing good team.
I would be disappointed if there were people who thought if Fred does come back, it’d be an easy turnaround and he’d bring in a Royce White in year one. But it’s dumb to think that Fred won’t be able to capitalize on the transfer market but schools like Alabama, Arkansas, etc can.
Transfers have been happening pretty much forever. Hoiberg didn’t invent taking transfers nor did he revolutionize it. It wasn’t “sprouting” when Fred came in. The only thing Fred did differently than any other school ever was take 4 sit out transfers in one year which was unheard of, to get a jump start on winning. That’s it. People like you continue to spew nonsense about how “the transfer game game has changed.” No it hasn’t. Every school always looked at transfers. Yes, even the blue bloods. There is more transfers now than ever and more talent in them is why you notice it more. Fred didn’t invent it, nor did he change the game with it. ISU became known as transfer U because of those four sit out transfers and he won with them. That’s it. The transfer game isn’t any different when it comes to schools who take transfers now compared to then.
He busted his ankle at the beginning of the year and missed the first few weeks. Hasn’t been the same since.
From what I remember, Hoiberg was the “first” coach to have that much success having four transfers sit out his first year. After doing that to jumpstart the program, he brought in one or two a year which is fairly normal. But that’s why everyone claims he started the transfer market, because an announcer said he was the first coach to do it what that much success in year one.
We were a 8 seed tho right? We were a fun seed to watch but we weren’t setting the world on fire in year 2 of Fred
I mean we weren’t that good, but it’s still how he jump started the program and what he’s remembered for.
Beat UConn in the 8/9 then caught Anthony Davis Kentucky. We made it fun for awhile.
If we are in the 8/9 game in year 2 it's time for a raise and extension (kidding...kind of).

landing recruits is out of your control. You can’t control what someone else has the ability to choose (in this case it’s where the recruit chooses to go to school). You have every ability to control how much effort and time you put into recruiting the kids though. Don’t take this as me backing up Prohm missing out on recruits either.
One big difference in the transfer market is blue blood programs are now recruiting those kids as well. So it makes it tougher for ISU to get program changing players like Royce White.
When schools like Kentucky, Duke or Michigan jumped into the transfer market- it did make it tougher on a school like ISU or Nebraska to go after the first tier transfers. There are still good players out there, but many have baggage. aka Teddy Allen who Fred signed a couple years after being run out of WVU by Huggins.

Blue bloods have always recruited transfers, and even now with 2 or 3 times as many transfers, blue bloods would still rather have the top freshmen.
A ton of the guys Fred grabbed had some sort of issue / baggage.
