NBA: ***Official 2019 NBA Playoffs Thread***

KD is playing like a god lately. I'm ready to see what he can do with the Knicks.

Kawhi has also been in God mode. He’s 79-136 from the field in the playoffs Enjoy it Toronto fans cause he’ll be in LA next year. I still think Toronto won the trade.

It's a really fun time to be an NBA fan because there's no clear cut "who is the best player in the world" but lately the answer is Durant more often than anybody else imho. I still don't think it's him every night or every week though. Durant, Kawhi, Harden, LeBron, Jokic, Giannis all look it on certain nights then you have players like Curry, Westbrook, Davis, Embiid and Lillard I didn't even bring up.

Those calls where the defender doesn't allow the shooter to land will be made in game 2. That's a guarantee.

If this were the David Stern NBA a point would be made against Houston, especially after their audit from game 7 last year has come out.

Mad respect for Kanter for playing through that separated shoulder, but hanging on the rim like that wasn’t smart. He looked like he was almost in tears.

Watching many of these playoff games reminds me of why I have often tuned out when I haven't had a rooting interest. The reffing is soooo horrid and inconsistent. In many cases the players begin playing basketbrawl & nothing is called - then suddenly, the refs decide to blow their whistle on a very minor bump, etc. Ugly, ugly in Denver tonight, imho. Oh, I HATE Portland, BTW (goes back to the days when Hornacek was with the Suns).

I think these are probably the two worst teams of the 8 left in the playoffs.
I really dislike Portland for knocking the Thunder out but I have to disagree that they are one of the worst 2 teams. Lillard is perhaps a top 3 or even 2 PG in the league, right now at least.

What does Lillard have to do with the Nuggets/Blazers being 7th and 8th of current teams left in the playoffs? What teams are you putting below them?

Blazers would beat Milwaukee, Toronto and Philly in a best of 7 series. Eastern conference looks tougher this year since no Lebron, but they are the same old pretenders.

I haven’t followed NBA basketball in my life until Monte started being a focal point for the team. My question for NBA folks is jokic one of the top ten players in the league? The guy does everything. Sorry if someone has asked this or if it has been discussed.

He is definitely the most underrated player in basketball in terms of name recognition. Sadly I think sometimes it even translates to officiating. Last series DeRozan was getting more calls than Jokic and tonight Lillard got better calls. Those are two very good players but they aren't putting up triple doubles like Jokic and neither has anywhere near the court vision he does.

Given that he is only 24 I'd say he's a top 5 talent in basketball.

Give Jokic the officiating that other stars get and look out.

He's arguable one of the top 10 player in the league. He is very crafted offensively, he's a great passer, and he can knock down 3's. He's not great defensively though.

He's not a lock down defender or shot blocker but any defense will benefit by having a 7 footer who averages 10.8 rebounds a game on the floor.

At only 24 I see him being one of the better rebounders in the game for quite a few years. Jokic is younger than Joel Embiid and the same age as Giannis.

He’s surprisingly good defensively once you get past the fat and European thing. Basketball smarts can go a long way.

I feel like Harden is the offense version of taking a charge. They’re both foul hunting.

I don't mind taking charges as there is significant risk of backfiring (blocking foul). That's a foul on you on top of loss of possession. Throwing your legs out or jumping sideways/backwards pretty much never risks more than a chance of loss of possession. It's dumb and should not be rewarded.
