Prohm says : Lindell has gotten better, Lewis has ability to be really good, Shayok has really improved, Zion can shoot, Talen can make threes and so can Tyrese. We need to continue to get better. I think by the time we play, the shooting will be where it needs to be. It sounds to me that Prohm thinks we have the players now that can shoot the three given they continue to work on their shooting.

So you have Svi as a “4-man power forward “? That’s an odd opinion.
Did Svi do that regularly at KU, or did he go there and mostly play as a guard or on the wing, but played alongside three guards when KU wanted to go small?
Again, what’s THT’s wingspan and weight compared to Svi? Remember when 6’4” Burton played small-ball four? Or Hogue? Or Nadar?
Of course he did. At this point you have to remember there’s a lot of coaches speak in his answers. Like when he said Young’s 3P shooting would be an aspect of our offense.
No, Svi did NOT play the 4 regularly. My point exactly. He was FORCED there this season out of necessity as De Sousa and Preston were not eligible early in the year. Azubuike was literally their only true post to start the year along with Lightfoot who is garbage. Id imagine Bill Self would say it wasnt what he envisioned going into the year at all.
You have forotten how this conversation started. I said we don't need the transfer from South Dakota. Literally the position we need the least next year as Wigginton, Shayok and THT (and Lewis) will play the majority of minutes as 2/3. Might there be times when we play small and THT is playing a 4? Maybe. They will be few and far between though. He isnt playing 38 mins. a game at the 4 like Svi did this year. Period.
In regards to the bolded part above, don't forget about Lard. I've heard through the grapevine that's been his plan all along, play 2 years and go pro. And the way he played this past year, I would not be surprised at all to see him go.
So unfortunately, we may lose our 2 best players after this next season. That being the case, we sure better make the tourney this coming season..... we might be "rebuilding" a bit again the following year.
Not to nitpick but Shayok, Wigginton, Lard, NWB will all potentially be gone after next year so I would suggest we will lose our 4 best players. Maybe you were only referring to players that would be eligible to come back?
No, you are exactly right. If Wigginton and Lard both go, we'd probably be losing our top 4 players after this next season. I just meant that Wigginton and Lard would be likely be our top 2 players that we'd be losing, but yes, Babb and Shayok would probably be our 3rd and 4th best too. Hope Prohm has some good recruits in mind.
Not doubting your 'grapevine', but if Lard is NBA ready after next season, there's going to have been a WHOLE LOT of improving going on. At 6'9" a rim-runner and close to the basket scorer are up against the odds. Europe, maybe a different story.
He does.... Terrance Lewis, Taren Horton-Tucker, Zion Griffen, Tyrese Haliburton, and George Conditt (and fully 18 months to add talent).
Everyone needs to relax about the distant future. ISU *could* lose talent after next year but that will mean a great year in results and LW and CL excelling in play. Every program goes through the same issue. It could be much worse, look at the rebuilds OU, OSU, Baylor and Tech are looking at THIS year. No reason to stress out about the 2020 season yet.
It is strange that if Lard's plan is to go pro after next year why hasn't he entered his name in the draft this year to get his evaluation?
I am actually surprised Cameron hasn't at this point either way, but getting his name out there if the plan is to leave after next year is that more important.
If you want to compare Talen Horton-Tucker to someone in ISU's past I keep thinking coincidentally of Kantrail Horton. THT is certainly taller than Horton's 6-1 but THT is stout and solid like KH and would probably be a good fit as the third guard in a three guard lineup. With THT he could play guard and still defend an opponent's SF. Kantrail was what made Eustachy's 3 guard lineup tick by defending a SF and THT could potentially do the same for Prohm.
He may realize that he's not ready this year. This isn't rocket science. He can still get feedback on his game from people that know what he needs to do to put himself in the NBA range.
He needs to improve on defense.... I think he will considering how raw he was without having a of game action for two straight years before this. He also needs to show a little more range on his shot.
If he can do those two things, he will be on the NBA's radar.
I would not be surprised to see any of three outcomes with Lard:
-He improves his game enough to actually get drafted next year (probably second round material).
-He doesn't improve his game enough to be drafted but goes anyway because he's not interested in going to school.
-He realizes that he needs one more year and comes to his senses and returns in 2020.
The bolded below is probably why he said you literally referred to Lewis as a three point sniper.
To be fair, I tend to agree with you to a certain extent. I think with Lewis's insane high school shooting percentages (with high volume and over two years) and the way he improved throughout the season last year I think it is a solid bet that he has a better season from the arc this year than last.
I spoke with someone that knows Lard VERY well. Now, with that being said, that is just what his plan was when coming to ISU. Whether or not he still feels that way, or if his plan has changed, I'm not sure about that. Maybe he feels differently now?
I just think that Prohm wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't anticipate this being a VERY real possibility.

I agree on his options. I was just expecting Lard to get the evaluation with the plan on coming back this year no matter what. It is only a benefit to get the evaluation and put your name on the scouts list. If his plan is to leave after next year it would be all that more important.
If Cameron doesn't declare in the next week or so then I would think his plan of leaving after next year may have changed.
But less overall shots. The point of their offense is to bleed clock for the most part, so they'll give up open looks if they're too early in the clock.
Honestly, I think most player’s PLAN when coming into college is to go pro after a couple of years.
