Now another run. If you said "fly it" prematurely and they end up losing this I will never forgive you.
I typed it out but meant to wait til it was over but accidentally hit reply. Then I went to delete it and the site froze up. I figured it was just meant to be that the Cubs would hold on. I'd trust a 6 run lead in the 9th even with Kintzler on the mound
Was just a best case scenario. It really does put the pressure on the Brewers. Lose tonight, and it's likely over.
Cards now a game and a half behind the Dodgers (2 in the loss column). Starting to look grim for them.
What is Carrie writing about? She has in her article that the Cubs need to win one more and get Brewers losses in two in order to clinch. I'm pretty sure with a magic number of 2 a Cubs win and one Brewers loss would take care of it.
Yup. Any combination of 2 Cubs wins/Brewers losses at this point clinches it.
Couldn't the Cubs just go 1-1 and get division on head to head tie breaker even if Brewers finish 3-0?
Think this win clinched central division winner having best record regardless of who it would be. I have no idea on those tie breakers but I don't think central winner record could even be tied now.

Nope, if the Cubs and Brewers finish with a tied record, there would be a one game playoff. Winner wins the central and loser goes to the wild card
Man that seems pretty dumb (minimizing long regular season series), what is the tiebreaker criteria for then? Just seeding and home adv? Seems like a rule that made a lot more sense before they made the wildcard a play in between two games. I get playing a playoff game to get the old single wild card spot, but not a game when both teams have clinched at least wildcard and had a long regular season series.
