Isn't Tucker a small forward?
I couldn't disagree more. Haliburton is ready right now. The more he has the ball in his hands, the better.
Yeah I don't understand why we wouldn't have Hali be the primary pg.
247 lists him as PG, ESPN list him as a guard. At 6"5 I would think he could play 1-3.

As for ISU's chances, when your going up against Auburn, Memphis and Kansas it is always going to be tough competition, but getting him on campus is key. Prohm will have to sell him using his history of getting players to the NBA.. After all Prohm has already visited him and convinced him to cut a bunch of other schools to check out Ames.

KenPom has him playing primarily at small forward and power forward.
I know the competition is stiff, but you would think the pitch here is straightforward.
-- we lost a ton of scoring... you'd be the centerpiece of the offense in the half-court
-- Haliburton, one of the best young point guards in the country, would handle the ball for you and be looking to set you up... definitely a pass-first facilitator for you
-- we can pretty much promise you a starting spot and playing 30+ MPG
-- Haliburton and Nixon are happy to take the harder assignments on defense
-- pretty good collection of experienced big men to do all the dirty work inside
-- the missing piece is you... that volume perimeter scorer... with that piece in place, and considering the Big 12 might be a little down, we can surprise some people

I'd add, Look at my system and track record of getting into the League. (Payne, Cannon, Morris, Mitru-long Haliburton eventually NWB (possibly) Burton, Nader, and Niang) .
IMO if Prohm sticks to small ball, then we may be in trouble. I gotta believe he is going to look at the roster and play his best 8 players. Heck Jacobson, Conditt and Young might be among our 5 best players along with Haliburton & Nixon.
Unless we bring in some great grad transfer/JUCO shooters we aren't going to win by being an elite offense. Next years team will make the NCAA tournament if we defend, rebound (especially offensive) and run great half court offense. I just don't see an elite offensive player like Shayok, Wigginton, Morris, Niang, etc.
Huge news that they are getting Tucker to visit. At least gives them a chance.

Good passer and takes care of the ball. He deferred on offense this past season, but there isn't plenty cause for concern regarding Hali.
Like I said he deferred this past season. I don't think he will next year.
Your Babb reference may be appropriate. However, I would say there were plenty of times this year that THT created the opportunity for his own shot...then didn't take it. Several times off the bounce he got into the lane, then passed rather than shooting, but he looked at times to be able to take guys off the dribble. He doesn't have to always get to the rim to finish as he is long enough to shoot over defenders as he gets into the paint.
It seemed like Garrett's senior year (may have been the coaching change) before he really looked to be a scorer. Let's see if Hali can make that transformation this year. Later in the season this year, it looked like he lost his legs a bit on his 3 PT shot.
This is one of those times I have to tell myself that I trust Prohm.
I think Prohm is an excellent recruiter with high school kids. It plays to his strength of integrity, care, and the parents know he cares. Grad transfers is where those strengths are far less useful. I am not saying he can't recruit in that space. I am simply saying it is not playing into his strengths.
Think about it like this:
We did really well with transfers because the transfers wanted to play and FH wanted to get to the league. He was able to tell them what they wanted to hear. Prohm does well with HS kids because he gives them a long-term relationship and the opportunity to have a trusted advocate.
Seams like some are pretty high on Haliburton. We should expect big things from him next year.
