I'm not sure I'd say a redshirt guy is a nice option if Juiston falls through.

Young/Lard/Kasongo give us more potential in the front court than we had going into last year. I'd rather have Juiston of course, because that lessened the likelihood that we need to go 4 guards again (if Lard/Kasongo struggle), but unless they've got another under the radar immediately eligible big hiding somewhere, that's what we could be looking at.

Wonder if Jacobson would fit in the Shirley mold of academic scholarship but on the basketball team. Looks like he probably has the grades for it and if its important to him to be close to family that could work out well for everyone. Not sure he's better than what else we're looking at currently though.

I don't think they can do that anymore.

We had Burton and Young, a known and an unknown. Compare that to a partial known and complete mysteries.

But that wasn't my point. Just because that may be what we're looking at doesn't mean it's a nice option if Juiston falls through. Not adding someone to a weakness for next year is a fallback option, but few would call that a nice option. Would Moss be a great fallback had we not gotten Wigginton in this class?

If the school offers him academic scholarships available to any other student or his parents pay tuition he can be on the team as long as the coaches have a spot for him

I've never seen him play, but he put up really good numbers for a sophomore. Fantastic efficiency numbers for a team that bad.
I haven't kept up with him, but he was very intriguing in high school. Was basically a 6'7" pg which is always a good start

I think he would still count against the 13 though I feel he was on full academic scholarship. Could be wrong though.

It doesn't. At least it didn't when I ran track at ISU a few years ago. Most kids on the team were on academic scholarships of some sort. Didn't count against NCAA standard of 12.6

I could be wrong, but if I recall correctly basketball has its own rules on this so that you can't easily get by the 13 count

Still counts against the scholarship total even though the athletic department isn't paying.

Hmmm...
Alstork is planning visits.

@CoreyEvans_10 Pitt will play host to Wright State transfer Mark Alstork on May 5 for an official visit; immediately eligible in the fall
