***Official 2016 Transfer Thread***

No inside sources, but from what my own intelligence gathered, I wouldn't be shocked to see everyone back with Ashton and Ernst not on scholarship to make room for Bowie and another big.

This seems like a very possible scenario.

Looking at some statistics at ncaa website. Devin Williams had the most rebounds per game in the big 12, 36th overall. Livingston was 38 overall and McKay was 63rd.

Not denying it might have been said, but that seems awfully far-fectched. Especially since Naz has commented on wanting Monte to return. Naz seems like a straight shooter to me. I think the suddenness of Naz shutting it down after beginning the season caused multiple 'theories' to be thrown around like hotcakes.

I see what you did there.

Another interesting thing is we haven't heard who is getting the boot this year yet. It seems like once the season is over, we usually hear who is leaving. I wonder when that will happen.

Can we give the boot to some "fans" that are overly dramatic? Where are you going to transfer your fandom to jsb?

:jimlad: ...kinda

Yeah I just don't see him staying if he's not on scholarship.

For sure no.

Probably true, but as an Iowan he'd get instate tuition which is still pretty darn cheap.

Also, if Ernst gets the medical RS, he'd still be constrained by the 5yrs to play 4, right?

Hypothetical, if a player were to go to non-scholarship, would he have to sit if he left after that?

Christian Jones will not return to St. John's next season, per release. #sjubb

I know people will say we're solid at the forward position for next season but Jones is essentially the same size as Devin Davis, the juco the staff was in to see earlier this week, so they obviously feel there is a need.

I don't think anyone is saying that. We definitely need another frontcourt player.

Livingston
Davis
Jones
Dembele

It's somewhat encouraging that more players keep popping up. Any of those four would be a welcome addition.

Yeah, maybe in like, 1995. It sure as hell isn't nowadays. Less than out of state, but incredibly far from "pretty darn cheap."

Unless my memory fails me, if you recruit a player as a scholarship player, you cannot revert him back to non-scholarship and keep him on the team. He will count against the 13 limit if he stays. Ashton is different because he was a walk on.

Oh, I thought it was like 3K/ semester, which would be relatively cheap compared to surrounding state schools. What is it now?

Do you have a reference for this?

I ask because I knew people in football who were recruited as a scholarship player and when they didn't turn out their scholly was pulled but they could still be on the team as a walkon.

Yes you can and it will not count against the 13 limit. Simple example of this is Doug McDermott.
