***Official 2016 Transfer Thread***

Does anyone know the reason why our staff offered Lard? It seems pretty obvious he wasn't going to make it here from the beginning; was it just a situation that he would remember us offering when he is out of JUCO?

My guess is that it shows a level of commitment from Iowa St. Many other schools were just wait and see mode. Really a no lose situation.

Only thing that would hurt Iowa St is if he is ruled ineligible after enrolling. But the way it sounds, the staff will have a pretty good idea, before it's too late to use his potential scholarship.

Hail Mary attempt to land him down the road or pray that he turned his academic problems around.

Yeah, I figured it was more of a good faith gesture so he would remember us when he comes out of JUCO. Smart move by the staff

@BSnowScout: Assuming Sheldon Jeter will get his degree by summer, I think it is safe to say you can add a name to the grad transfer list

6'8 F from Pitt. Averaged 8.1 ppg & 4.8 rpg last year.

Yes please. Sign me up for Jeter and Jankovic right now.

Interesting, Pitt just hired Kevin Stallings, Jeter left Vandy (when Stallings coached there)but Stallings personally blocked him from transferring to Pitt. Vandy eventually let him go to Pitt but I'd guess there is a 100% chance Jeter leaves, this would be his motivation to get his degree and leave.

Jeter had to go pay his own way at a JUCO for a year before going to Pitt.

Weren't there rumors that Stallings was one of the guys interested in the ISU job last year?

A player who used to be a guard but got moved to wing because he grew is a "post all the way"?.

Obviously he's going to mostly play the 4 because of all the players we already have who can play 1-3, but hes more of an Ejim/Houge who is a 3 but plays the 4 in our lineup.
Ejim/Hogue is a good comparison IMO. He'll play the 4 the vast majority of the time next year, hence me labeling him a post player. Just a disagreement in semantics.

Just depends on if we get a true post transfer or not. Like Hogue, played the 3 while we had Ejim, moved to the 4 when Ejim graduated.

Probably true, I'm not going to bank on landing such a big fish though. Even in that case there's a decent chance both Burton and Bowie would be coming off the bench in which case I'd expect the former to play more on the perimeter and the latter to more in the post. Might depend on specific matchups too I guess.

Bowie for sure comes off the bench if we get a post. He might have to start if we don't though.

5 Star Guard with 3 years left just became available.

Arizona G Justin Simon is leaving the program.
