However since it is so late in the coaching search for us, I don't think there are any options better for us in the 2015-16 campaign. Marshall seems committed to the Shockers, I'm not sure about Mark Jackson, and I'm not sold on JH. We may be best off with Hoiberg, but he is on a short leash this season considering what he is putting us through with all this uncertainty. Nobody is bigger than the program.
Thanks... hope the "formal" decision" isn't a formality.I've been posting a lot of info behind the curtain but it's just not stuff that can be made public to the larger audience. I will give a summary of some of it...
-No formal decision has been made.
-Coaches and players do not know anything other than rumors (talked to several 2 or 3 times today).
-Predicted we'd know a lot more within 24-36 hours (that was at 11am).
-None of the 4 known starters would be a flight risk.
-Other teams have inquired but Bulls are the main threat.
-The offer is for more than ISU could ever dream of paying, even though it isn't about the money.
-JP has done all he can, though I continue to hear scuttle about a lack of monetary outreach (JP knows Fred's reasons thus the lack of outreach).
-I continue to reiterate that TJ has not been promised the job, though he will be a top tier candidate, possibly even the favorite for various reasons.
-Many of the players committed to TJ and would honor that even if their father figure in Fred left, though 2016 and 2017 recruits are in flux.

As much as people discounted the "source" that said it was a done deal and Pollard was in Atlanta looking for a replacement it isn't looking very bad with this info.
Unfortunately that doesn't tell us a whole lot because they could be connecting flights, and those 3 stops are big hubs.
Or levity, even.
Sorry I don't have access to the FAA database to get you his direct flight plan.
Not sure how credible this is but this guy is a DM attorney:
Mark Hinshaw @LawOfficesofMRH 4m4 minutes ago Fred Hoiberg is gone. ISU AD just returned from Atlanta where Iowa State coaching search firm Parker Executive Search is located.
I just saw Fred at the Royals game. He said he is waiting until game is over to make decision.
