Official 2015 Hoiberg NBA Speculation Thread

All day, this. The timing of it was in incredibly poor taste. WRNL is the definition of low class. Thanks for making cyclone fans look like a joke for 5 years running!

I actually enjoy some of their stuff, but this one was ill conceived, poorly timed and ultimately in poor taste.

You have to either possess flawless credibility or really poor judgement if you are going to question Fred's character or loyalty, and it's pretty apparent they have the latter quality here.

Someone with photoshop skills should remake star wars: a new hope with TJ's head instead of Luke. Just for shizz and gigs.

I'm trying to build one that's rooted in intelligence and not wild Internet speculation

There are lots of people who have seemingly staked their CF "reputation" on this outcome. Always remember, the internet never forgets!

Yes he had to say something, but to say

Really gives fans a false hope.

At this point in time Fred is still the coach at ISU. There are 2 posters that hit the various sites that I think rent a room from Fred (not really) because they literally are spot on when it comes to questions about players/coaches etc, rarely being wrong. I saw one of them comment today he still thinks Fred stays.

Fred no doubt is agonizing over this decision, you have 2 loves and you must pick one.

I would simply tell people if you believe what Fred said in that interview then keep the faith.
I am bit more cynical and look at the buyout in the contract, and know to ask for that means the NBA is a very strong pull for the guy.

And who's to say the Bulls did not make an offer he said no, and they asked if they could come back with a better offer. Maybe Fred gets a Coach/ Assistant GM title.

Given all the wrong information passed along on this board today about Pollard and the players it pretty much shows that most insider information is probably a result of answer asking a magic 8 ball a question.

@ChrisMWilliams: Bulls could ship Thibs to Orlando, or fire him outright.

Sooo basically the same stuff we've known and has been hashed out numerous the last 2 weeks. This tweet for attention thing with no new details or information is getting out of hand. If something does happen I can only hope it's someone on the national level that breaks it. The egos of local sports writers surely can't handle it.

If he leaves, I'll be really bummed about it, but will always be grateful for the good memories Hoiberg gave us. From watching Royce White and that team get us back to the tournament, to DeAndre Kane hitting the game winner against North Carolina to advance us to the sweet 16, and to back-to-back conference tournament championships. I know coaching in the NBA is his dream, so I can't be upset at him for chasing a dream. Hoping for more great memories under Fred, but if there aren't any, I'm happy with the ones he gave us

Did anyone see Andy Garmin tweet at a random Iowa fan that said I can't believe Hoiberg is really going to Chicago where he got his source?

Is this what local journalism is really coming too?

Can't wait til Randy Peterson steps away from Rag: I'm embarrassed for central Iowa every time somebody quotes his work.

I don't think that's what the article was doing. Maybe you didn't read the whole thing?

The tweet before that one was the news... That this whole thing will gain a lot of momentum here in the next few hours (after the draft lottery concludes).

How is stating that a coach is not as emotionally invested into a team as fans are questioning his loyalty or character?

Being too emotionally invested in a job is not a good quality to have. Being emotionally invested as a fan has next to zero implications.

I know this will sound like more made up speculation, but here goes.

I heard from a guy (banker, real estate, has connections in Des Moines) that he has a friend that plays poker with Fred on Mondays. He said it sounds like 50/50.

Now I don't know how much poker Fred has been playing since his surgery, and I thought it was bogus too. Said Fred was supposed to play last night. No confirmation if he actually played or not.

Take it for what it's worth.
