Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

Hoiberg would burn a bridge if he ever left ISU. I just don't see how he would ever be accepted back for any position especially AD which is where I have always envisioned him ending up some day. Would leave the fandom in a bad spot.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

Congrats to CW and Blum for keeping the count click high, I appreciate having free CF.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

It's not the end of the world if he bounces.

End of the world? No. But a major blow to Cyclone athletics? Yes. If there is one thing I've learned in my 20 years of being an ISU fan, it's that we should not expect success to continue. Especially with regime changes. In fact, it's much more likely than not that we will sink back to mediocrity, or worse, if and when Fred leaves. Not what I want, but what I've learned.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

A quick review of the last week...

There have been two articles written stating that...

1. Thibs is likely gone (which we've known all year)
2. Bulls will have interest in Fred (which we've known all year)
3. Hoiberg has interest in coaching in the NBA someday (which we've known since he took the ISU job)

There has been absolutely nothing written in the last week that we didn't know already, and this site is in full-blown meltdown mode...CW even said he thinks he'll be back (and that's if you put a gun to his head).

When you combine:

JP's comments (which seemed a little negative).....
A concerted media effort to prepare the fan base for a let down....
Matt A leaving.....
Weirdness in recruiting, where guys like Bielfeldt and King, who would normally be committing quickly, are waiting...
TJ pulling out of head coaching searches
Romar's comments

It's easy to see why people would be getting nervous.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

It's probably the worst event in Iowa State athletics.

I'd say team members dying in a plane crash is much worse than this or maybe somebody dying due to injuries on the playing field, but that's just me.

If this is how this board acts when it's "nervous", I would absolutely hate to see it when people are upset.

The stupidity would be off the charts.

It will be the CF meltdown to end all meltdowns. Truly a sight to behold.

JP's comments - Would you rather he said "No Comment.."? If he said that, I guarantee there would be a lot more freaking out.
Media preparing fanbase for a let down??? Now I've heard it all...
Matt A leaving - To go back home?
Weirdness in recruiting - You mean one and done guys don't want to sit on the bench and be a role player getting maybe 10 mins? These guys are looking to start, not sit. If this were next year and McKay and Niang leaving, they both would have committed weeks ago.
TJ pulling out of head coaching searches - Maybe being an Asst at ISU pays more than being the head coach of University of Wisconsin-platteville, green bay, whatever it was.. Maybe being an Asst at a top 5 ISU team would land him a better head coaching gig in a couple years than being mediocre at some no name school.
Romar's comments - You got me there... Fred's gone.

No it wouldnt. Not even in the slightest. Fred will be loved because he is fred. He has been up front the whole time.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

This place will ******* blow up when the Bulls lose the series to the Cavs then Thibs gets fired the next day. Might be a record for threads started in a day.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

First off maybe you should accept it isn't baseless when Jamie Pollard is also speculating it is very possible.

Jamie Pollard isn't "speculating" anything about it. He acknowledged the same thing today that he did a year ago, and two years ago...yes it is possible, but there has been nothing written in the last week that has told us anything we haven't been told 1,000 times before, and 1 of the 2 guys that wrote an article even said (in the same article) that he believes Fred will be back...but that just does not seem to be registering as a possibility whatsoever to some of you.

It's freaking speculation, that's all. People are losing their minds over something that less than 15 people nationally have decided to write/talk about and even more so now that CW, BB and JP are only continuing throw logs on the fire.

It's their jobs to do exactly this though so it is what it is. Not so much JP's but Def the other two.
