Official 2014 Recruiting thread

It could be that the recruiting analysts aren't experts on ranking K and P prospects. Not to mention teams usually only take a K or P once every 4 years for each position.
Play around with the calculator and see w g at adding folks actually does to the score. It is very hard to equate the ratings with the score and how it effects the score. They actually give us .07 points for one of the best punters in the class. So not like they don't score it. When you compare it to the 4th best wide reciever in a class being wort 10 points it is out of whack. You can only put 11 guys on the field. Lineman get **** for points too.

But nobody would choose the 4th best punter over the 4th best wide receiver. It's obviously not perfect though.

What a recruiting weekend. All commits so far had some big time teams after them. This class was already good, and just got a hell of a lot better. If we can seal the deal with JT Gray and get a JUCO DT I'll be absolutely thrilled!

Mike Johnson just committed per Trey Scott

Before the weekend, coaches supposedly saying we have 3 spots left. I assume they will still "make room" for JT Gray. Finish out with him and this would be an amazing finish to this class.

They will make room for Gray. Wouldn't be surprised if ISU makes room for him and either Gooch or a Juco DT.

Mic quell Cotton goes yo Iowa Wesleyan.... What?

Micquell Cotton

Means he didn't get eligible didn't we had some guys like him when I played there in immediate aftermath of Leach and Mumme & Holgerson. We had 45 full scholies back then though not sure what they have now. Marshal Cotton (former Iowa RB) was my recruiter wonder if related. With his pro - ISU tweets wondering if this is a move to park him we had guys play one year to get a couple classes in order for clearinghouse (they were samoan) then go d-1 (epinesa epinesa to Iowa and Patrick Augaufa to ISU to name a couple in my time). If he is just missing a class this may be a solid route.

Crazy day. Definitely seems like Coach Ayeni is already showing some of that recruiting tenacity CPR talked about. We now have what, 7 Juco guys? 3 of which are on campus right now?

Good to hear, cause we need another NT...BAD.
I dunno about "bad", because I think that Devlyn Cousin can do a nice job. Right now, though, I'd just rather not be forced to rely on someone like Robbie Garcia as a redshirt freshman for a lot of reps.

But yes, I'd put a DT ahead of even Gray or Outing.

Thats my whole point. You need to be at least 2 Deep on OL/DL at every position. DL is maybe one of the most key positions at winning games. I know Cousin will be fine but after that? Garcia will be a good one in time. We have plenty of DT body types, but not so much at NG.

Cousin is the size now as a sophomore that Jensen was as a SR, NT is not that high as some think and I think we see Coe in the NT position at some point

@Trey_Scott3: Isadore Outing committed to Memphis today. Was targeted by Iowa State and Nebraska. Contact with Cyclones dropped off recently, though.
