Official 2014 Recruiting thread

Seems like we cast the net for two and three and sometimes four stars and found how many we could sign. To finish with maximum productive people, we are completing with older 3/4 star jucos. If this is class balancing, so be it. Not sure we can wait for a bunch of people to develop after three years. Three wins and SEZ has added more urgency to the situation.

I'm of the opinion that our need for JUCOs stems more from player attrition than from "poor recruiting". That's certainly the case at LB. We've had way too many of our LB recruits leave the team.

We haven't really brought in many DL recruits, but that is considered by many to be the toughest position to recruit, with very few capable players in each class. I wouldn't be against following KSU's lead and scouring the JUCO ranks almost every year for help on the DL.

Great news to see that we are still going after Jeff Jones and that he is still showing interest.

This makes me curious as to what the staff would do if they ran into the situation where both Jeff Jones and Kenric Young wanted to come play here. It looks like we're still pursuing each of them and both look they could eventually make an impact on this team. This would definitely be a great situation, I just don't know if they would be able to make enough room considering their recruiting priorities look to be focused on the defensive side.

With "only" twenty known commits, I'm sure that if CPR really, really wants someone, he can make room.

I'll point out that D'Vario Montgomery showed up in Ames "just for a game" a couple of years ago--and look how that wound up!
