All those offers and he has a top 3 of the 2 teams that offered first, and Iowa State. Fantastic news but wish he would visit here before his decision.

I agree that our chances are a lot better with these recruits if we get them on campus for a visit, but I'm thrilled that we are competing (sometimes even successfully) with big-time schools for recruits. Heck, we are talking about turning down commitments from kids with multiple BCS offers because they don't fit our needs - and it's July!

I agree that WR is getting pretty crowded in this class, and it might be tough to accept commitments from both Proctor and Gaines. I've seen Young, Proctor, and Gaines all play at least twice over the last year. Young is a bigger body, but those other 2 guys are pretty special and I think they are both better HS players than Young.

Well than I guess we cant go wrong! Looks like Allen is making us attractive to the WR market, they like the possibilities with him attracting double coverage. If we get Jeff Jones and one more reciever thats a lot of skill positions. Seems like we need more d tackles, ends and linebackers.

I have to assume the staff would be thrilled to have those 3 committ.. I doubt we get all 3 though. I think Sykes is the one we do get.

I also believe that Owens not committing during the WV visit bodes well for us. My guess is that he is headed to GT or ISU. Otherwise, why would he even include ISU as a finalist if he wasn't seriously considering Us? Especially since he hasn't even visited Ames.

It looks alot similar to the Tommy Mister recruitment where he committed to ISU right after the Michigan St. visit. Ill keep my fingers crossed!!!
 
(On the bright side !!!) We are still being given consideration by Jeffrey Jones...........

However the outlook doesn't look great for the good guys. If this is true, I think it will just show again that it's tough to get kids on campus for a visit.

I'm not holding my breath on Owens, but he would definitely make a nice addition to the class.

As someone pointed out earlier, it might say something that he's been WV, twice now I believe, and didn't committ.

I thought that was really strange that he has visited there and visited recently too yet didn't committ... If I was a WV fan I wouldn't be getting my hopes up too much. I think he is GT bound to be honest...
 
What also intrigues me about Owens is that of the 3 finalist ISU is the only one he hasn't visited. Why even include us if he isn't seriously considering ISU? Also, ISU easily has the best defense if the 3 schools (although WV fans will fight you to the death that their D last year is not the norm). He also plays a position that where we are really thin and would come in and get a lot of playing time early....

i don't think ISU would be a bad choice for him even though he hasn't even been on campus yet.

Shame too. I think if he visited, he would not only be impressed with what ISU could offer him on the field, but the facilities would probably be the best of those 3 with proven coaches at LB.

Remember mister was about to commit to msu after the visit but didnt just because Lazard talked to him. I think he is likely wvu bound and us being the 3rd most likely but who knows. The fact he went to WVU on his dime means he was serious. It's not like Morgantown is close either. They have the best football brand of the 3 So got to think they are the favorite.

This is a valid point. However, if he was so set on going to WV why wouldn't he just committ while on his visit recently? I thought I read somewhere he just took a vist to WV... I guess it would make most sense just to committ then rather than drag it out a few more days.
