Official 2014 Recruiting thread

Mister is probably 65% MSU, 35% ISU. All indications point to MSU being the favorite.

No, you'll get ripped because you think an endzone is the end all for recruiting. Do you really think a bunch of 17 year old kids give two ***** about the aesthetics of a stadium? Honestly I don't know why you even care. The purpose of a football of a football stadium is to hold a football field. As long as the field is there, who gives a **** beyond that.

Wow. With all due respect, this is ignorant. I'm sorry.

How old are you? You sound like you are probably 70+ years old? Not that there's anything wrong with being old, we all get old, but after a while you lose touch with the younger generation of today, that's all.

If you don't think a college football recruit notices the difference when they walk into Ohio University's stadium and Ohio State University's stadium, then I guess I can't convince you that what a stadium looks like makes a HUGE difference in the minds of a recruit.

And no, it doesn't have to seat 70k or more fans to feel big and impressive. Minnesota is a great example. I believe that seats less than Jack Trice, but it just looks so much more impressive. TCU's field seats less than ours too I believe, but it also looks more impressive IMO.

Don't get me wrong, we've done some great things with Jack Trice too. The suites are nice and were a good idea. The pressbox initially was impressive and was needed badly, but now could be expanded IMO. The new concessions and restrooms are great too, but don't do much for recruits. The scoreboard is nice as well, but just poorly planned. Even if we could have only bowled in one level on the south, the scoreboard would have looked a LOT better on top of that then on a freeway sign above a building.

And the new football facility is awesome. Top notch. As is the indoor football facility. And the tunnel was actually a great idea too. But the tunnel would have been AWESOME if it came right out of the NW hillside and looked like a tornado storm shelter with big steel doors on it. But no, instead it comes out quietly and indiscreetly behind a huge freeway sign structure where nobody can see the players come out at all.

Adding a SEZ wouldn't even probably increase our seating capacity either because you'd be getting rid of two hillsides. You're basically just replacing hillsides and temporary seats in the SEZ with permanent seats. But it would add a LOT to the atmosphere and the looks of the stadium. And you could probably charge more per seat than you can for hillsides, so more money would be generated.

All I'm saying is that a potential recruit walking into Jack Trice versus walking into Kinnick is a night and day difference. Our practice facilities, weight room, offices, etc are probably better than Iowa's right now, but the stadium experience isn't even close. That's all.

Im guessing you don't sit in the current SEZ do you. Because if you did, you would know that without the current scoreboard I can't watch 35% of the game, and I also can't see how many yards are gained/lost per play on 80% of the plays. So that scoreboard was well planned.

It's already a well known fact that bowling in the SEZ wouldn't necessarily increase seating capacity. Especially if you did just a single level.

I want the SEZ as much as anyone, because I'm a sucker for "appearances". But listening to JP's logic with the Football training facility, and him mention REPEATEDLY that there are other priorities we need to take care of, and the size of te project... It ain't happening in the short term.

this is just blah blah blah ******* match blah blah blah...

Just in case you all forgot, this thread is about 2014 football recruits. Go start a stadium expansion thread and whine to each other there because I certainly don't want to read it.

Hey I'm with you, I don't care about the SEZ bowling either, but clonedude got to me.

We shouldn't let clonedude 'clonedude' this thread.

But honestly nothing much is happening in our recruiting world right now.

I agree...start a new thread about the stadium and keep this one about recruiting. I don't care if there isn't much happening in our recruiting world right now, that doesn't mean use this thread for other purposes
