***Official 2013 Bracketology Thread***

Lunardi has us as an 11 seed with a 2nd round game against Oregon. The draw overall looks favorable for a Sweet 16 run if it holds. The 3 seed is New Mexico which is definitely winnable.

Bracketology - NCAA College Basketball Brackets and Predictions - ESPN

He had ISU at 10 last week, I think. Was possibility of dropping into last 4 in, but as soon as I saw he had both KSU and OSU at 4 seed, I knew that wasn't going to happen (spotted those before ISU's).

Overall, solid bracket. Colorado State a little high, Kentucky should still be in the field (I think experts are projecting UK out, crystal-balling it instead of snapshotting).

He's a lot less favorable on Big 10 pecking-order level. Doesn't have MSU as a 1 seed (I think Spartans are in top line this week), Wisconsin is at 5 (about right, I'd say 4), Minnesota at 8 (a little low).

Looks like Indiana State couldn't knock off Wichita State. MVC down to two At-Large teams it seems.

True. That was the last good regular-season chance to stay in the mix — Drake & Evansville remain in-conference, with no-impact bracket buster vs. Iona.

That win over Miami is still huge, but the road victory over Wichita State got balanced by this loss, and WSU's profile isn't as strong as it was in January.

Almost only hope is the MVC auto-bid, which could very well happen. But at-large is long-shot.

InSU to the NIT......

Maryland had a really bad loss to Boston College yesterday.
Virginia did not get the marquee win over Miami
Florida State is officially out with their loss to NC State.
UNC is shoring up their profile, though beating Georgia Tech should be routine.
There are now 3 MVC Schools that should cause bubble teams nightmares: Northern Iowa, Illinois State, and Indiana State. I don't think either Wichita State or Creighton will win the MVC Conference Tourney. Either UNI, or the two ISU's will win
Saint Louis is officially in with the shellacking they gave VCU
BYU survived another day by beating Utah State
Lastly, Wyoming is officially out. Jerry Palm as them on the very edge of the bubble, but their blow out loss to SDSU seals their fate.

All in all, a good bubble day for ISU.

Iowa State moved from a 12 to 10 on teamrankings bracketology. Kind of surprised as teams ahead of ISU got big wins (St. Louis vs VCU) (Mizzou vs Florida)

odds of making the tourney went from 57% to 79%

Looking at the results from yesterday
Minnesota is sliding, but they will still make the tournament
Ole Miss lost to South Carolina. They are sliding badly and if they don't turn it around soon, could be out of the tournament.
Kentucky, Alabama, Arizona State and ST. Johns both got a wins, but against weak opponents. Still in Limbo.
Boise State beat Air Force in a bubble elimination game.
UMASS lost to St. Bonaventure effectively eliminating them from At-Large consideration.

Good summary.

A reason I didn't put Minnesota on my "didn't help itself" list is it's near-lock, but seeding is taking a dip. Biggest surprise to me is how badly the Gophers have lost the past two games.

Yeah. I don't know why they are so bad right now. However, the Big Ten is ridiculous this year, so their struggling makes sense.

Temple got a big win over La Salle.

Arkansas is becoming an interesting case. They have some terrible losses (South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M) , but have defeated Missouri, Florida, and Oklahoma.

If we weren't in before winning at Baylor, then Arkansas shouldn't be in right now either. Only one road win all year, and that was against a crappy Auburn team.

That is very true. However, if they somehow pull off a win at Florida and at LSU, they might just get themselves into the tourney. There is always that one team that comes out of nowhere.
