What is the history with Fran and Iowa State? I know he truly loves Iowa State, but I'm not sure why? It's got to have been certain people that he has met and become friends with?
I was in college during Fred years 1-4, and it seemed to me like Fran fell in love with us during that timeframe. I don't have much frame of reference before that, but that's how it felt to me.

The guy's a CBB fanatic, and he appreciates Hilton's atmosphere and the college town vibe of Ames.

It's gonna be an ugly defensive slugfest, right?

69 (nice) - 68, good guys win on a Milan 3, with a drive and kickout from Tamin

I'm normally as optimistic as they come, but I'm worried about Houston's aggressive play at every level causing us fits offensively.

Gonna say 76-62 Houston. I look forward to quoting this post later and calling myself an idiot for doubting Hilton Magic.

No good feelings for this one. Weather will hurt crowd turnout and ISU is still a work in progress against teams that are just as (or more) big, fast, and physical. This has 80-60 written on it to me

That would be very bad but a 10 point loss wouldn't be surprising.

Things like speed and length are the difference and might continue to be.

some people talk about Houston like they’ve played nobody to date
yes, @ ISU will be their first tough road test
but
Kenpom wins
31 Utah on neutral
32 Dayton on neutral
34 A&M on neutral
41 Xavier on the road

Haven't seen anything from ISU that makes me think they can win. Houston is everything ISU struggles with(long, aggressive and can shoot).

I’ll be there if it is played. Probably 6-8 inches in Ames. Roads not plowed yet

UH is largely untested this season, and this will be their biggest test of the year so far IMHO. They have a great interior defense, so 3 point shooting will be critical tonight. This UH squad reminds me of some of the Baylor teams from 5-8 years ago.

I see this game as a near no lose scenario... it won't hurt our ncaa chances too much if we lose, but it will catapult our chances if we win. One thing we know will be true - Otz will have his team ready to play and will fight to the end no matter the outcome.

Not going to predict a win, but I think we'll see enough positives from the team tonight, specifically Tamin and Keshon, that we'll feel good moving forward. Really like that Milan was more aggressive, trying to score at OU. His offensive skills are something we haven't had under TJ. Once he gets settled in to playing higher competition, we'll have so much higher ceiling than the past 2 years. I think we already have a higher floor, with BRE and Hasan being able to score ugly when things get bogged down.

I think this game goes one of two ways -

More likely - we play well, but can't make enough shots against Houston's very very good defense and come up short in crunch time - something like 60-57 Houston

OR - Hilton magic + Texas kids in a snow storm happens. We get easy buckets off of turnovers and the 3s are falling (at least 10) and we coast to a double digit win (75-64).

Either way, I think we can hold Houston to the 60s, it all depends on if we can score
