Is there a good alternative to the herman miller aeron chair? I like the model but $850 is a little pricey in my world.
Mike Shannon (Cardinals radio broadcaster) sits on one of these to avoid a stiff and painful back while broadcasting 162 games a year. Cheap and fun. Make sure you don't work with anyone from The Office though.

We've tried some of the "knock-offs", and no, there really aren't any alternatives, at least that I've seen. There are chairs that look and function similarly, but aren't as comfortable, and aren't as durable.
You'll go through 2 or 3 of the knock-offs in the same time you go through one Herman Miller.
We've had Herman Millers in daily use for over 5 years, and they still feel like brand new chairs.
I don't know if you can find them used somewhere, but I would have no hesitations picking one up used. I can't think of any of them ever having ANY problems whatsoever.
They are really a marvel of engineering.
I'd suggest an Allsteel chair, particularly #19, Acuity, Relate, or Sum. Aeron is fairly old (15 years since introdution) and the Allsteel chairs are equal or better. Plus you'd be supporting an Iowa based company (HNI or Hon) and a lot of ISU grads (myself included :smile. Let me know if you'd like any other info.
Allsteel offers executive, ergonomic, conference room and guest seating solutions
They have Herman Millers at Costco. I think they were in the $350 range.
That would be great but it's $1,000. WAAAAAY to rich for my blood. Unless you can give some kind of Iowa discount for 1/2 off.
