*Offical ISU vs Cal Game Thread*

It is tough to depend on players as a third or fourth scoring option (Staiger) when they give you a goose-egg. I'm sorry but he is just an absolute disappointment.

And mercifully it ends, gonna have a beer now and collect my thoughts on how I am going to handle us losing at home to a lousy iowa team.

I think we will they are doin terrible this year and i think we will beat them cause the team will be tired of loosing and they will want to win a game.. expesially vs a rival

I know it really doesn't matter, but the refs don't seem great.

Seriously? This may be the worst post ever. We are getting killed by 20, can't grab a rebound if we were the only ones on the court, and our offense looks like 5 guys all playing seperate games and the officials were the problem? I just pushed the imaginary negative rep button.

Let's put it this way...if we shoot 36% from the field and 3-17 from 3-pt range we won't beat many teams the rest of the way. That certainly includes Iowa.

He didn't say that was the whole problem. He simply commented on it.

Chill out, buddy, and take a breath before posting. You came off pretty bad on that one.

why does hamilton ever play let alone start? Hes slow, has no athletism, no shooting touch, and doesnt even know where he should be at on the floor.

When no one will set a pick for him, and he's got someone wearing his jersey so he can't get a shot off, he's in trouble.

Might want to check and see who has one of if not the best shooting percentage on the team. No shooting touch is COMPLETELY wrong.

I don't know but our offense seemed to consist of passing it to Brackins or Gilstrap and everyone watching them try to score and put up shots. Hardly any offensive movement trying to get anyone else open for a good shot. I don't know what kind of offense we run, but whatever it is, it wasn't working tonight. Also, on defense, I think McD just got outcoached. They were getting easy open shots off good plays and off ball movement. McDermott could not figure it out and made no good adjustments. And rebounding... that's inexpicable. BOX OUT fellas! Brackins and Hamilton have got to get more rebounds if we want to be competitive in Big 12 play. Pretty dismal performance, but it was against one of the Pac-10's best teams so take that for what it's worth. If we lose to Iowa then something is seriously wrong with this team.

Let me post something I was going to before the thread got deleted. The thread was about how McD is a good coach because he can coach players with already high IQ. To me this is absolutely ******** and I'll explain with some parallelism:

A good coach/teacher is someone who can take someone who isn't "intelligent" in a particular subject and make them understand.

I remember my mom telling me about when my dad was getting his PhD and they had just met. My mom is not scientific like my dad in the least bit. She's very intelligent, but if you give her a physics, chemistry, calculus, etc book she is going to implode. She said my dad made her understand EXACTLY what his PhD research was about and said "I can't believe I understood what he was actually doing."

Explaining Thermodynamics is easy to someone with tons of chemistry and physics training..that is, coaching basketball is easy when you're explaining it to someone who's already well versed in it and the fundamentals of it. However, if you can't take someone who isn't great at the fundamentals and make them understand it, then you aren't a good teacher.

End of ******* story.

How about trying a new lineup to start the next game. Sit DG, Ham and Lucca. I would trade our point gaurd for any of the three that we played vs NW, UNI and Cal.

Bold: Funny, it was just this week people were all ranting and raving about getting Brackins the ball.

Italics: What else is new?

Underline:What's inexplicable about it? We haven't been able to rebound for years now...

It just seems like this team has NO hustle...someone follow them around campus with a Kendo Stick and give them a crack if they ever stop running.

And that starts with athletic training. I'm curious as to what their training regimen is. Are these guys just bench pressing thinking it will actually help their shot and rebounding or are they spending time on improving their fast twitch fibers?

I hope they aren't spending tons of time bench pressing. On the other hand, I hope they are so we know exactly what they're wasting their time on
