Offensive Line

I still feel like we are a bit cursed.

It just feels like every bounce goes against us and goes for the opponent most of the time. It's uncanny.

We could have easily had 2-4 INTs, but balls batted up in the air just fell to empty space, or we just couldn't grab the ball right in our hands.

Iowa clearly holds on that 3rd and 22, but no call... and then Meeker gets called for the worst holding call I've ever seen on the most critical play of the game.

Sometimes you just come away with the feeling it just wasn't meant to happen.... and we just can't have nice things.

Hey, don’t forget the Purdy fumble recovery against UNI. Granted, that was after several fortuitous events for UNI that forced OT.

Think of if we had been called for a bogus hold on our 4th down conversion in the 4th quarter against UNI. We’d be lamenting another loss in which we pissed away a should be win.

A lucky bounced week 1 saved a game for us against an FCS opponent. Brock got away with just throwing one up for grabs last night also. Robert Smith even said it was a lucky that it did not go for a pick 6. One of our TDs came on a trick play that fooled Iowa's 3rd string freshman corner and backup walk on safety who only played due to injuries. Stop the loser mentality.

Agree. We’re going to see teams much better than the UNI and Iowa types. We can’t continue to give the game away. We nearly lost to Drake. Time to stop ******* around.

Yup. Apparently ppl on this site think we've had bad luck against Iowa, WSU, Drake, UNI, etc. It's just been a bad stretch of football. Hopefully we aren't too "cursed" to win the other games I expect to be very close and competitive (like KSU, OkSt, TCU). We will be fighting for bowl eligibility if we don't fix this curse CMC!!

It’s almost like you root against us.

Kind of off topic, but did anyone notice how many time they were within milliseconds of getting a delay of game? It was frustrating to watch quite frankly, nothing like scrambling around at the last possible second to get the snap off. Campbell cant be coaching them to do this right?

Get you **** play called in, line up and go after them. Its not like ISU had a huge lead all night and was trying to melt the clock away, this happened on numerous occasions.

Wish they would have ran the ball more, especially with Kene. But the line was fine; not the reason for the loss.

I have been wondering if Kene is fully healthy. He's by far the most effective rusher we have had over the past two games. I also wish he had been returning kicks, a couple of bad decisions to return the kickoff yesterday.

You might actually be more knowledgeable about basketball, and you know less than nothing about that.

It’s going to be tenuous. We’ll see how a 10 win defense and 4 win offense/special teams averages out. Already down a should-win, so it’s trending towards 7.

Don't know why all banging on the offense. I thought they played pretty well aside the mental breakdowns. At least played better than I expected, maybe my expectations were pretty low.

I am continually amazed how no one has hired you as a coach for all sports at a power 5 school

As Johnny once said about Stanley Reynolds. One of the best in the business, and if he’s not officiating the national championship game, it’s a real travesty.

I think there's intention to drain some clock and take the time down the field. Problem is it generally turns into a cluster**** at some point or a play just straight up nosedives or the plays don't seem to compliment one another.

Iowa was a bit gassed on that drive that the bad snap happened. Get them on their heals and keep them there instead of ****ing around for 20 seconds.

I was really impressed with the o line today. We averaged 4.8 yards per carry and kept Purdy pretty safe all day against a really good D line.
One of my favorite things was seeing Kene coming on with good patience and then hitting the hole, threatening to break one off up the Hawks’ a$$. We will see him with a handful touchdown runs from Cyclone territory

We were never close to throwing a pick 6. Purdy air mailed that way over the defenders head where he couldn't even try and lay out to get it.

Why is your backup safety a walk on?

The DE falls to the ground after being shoved by Knipfel but the ref thought Meeker grabbed and tossed him. Bad call.

This is correct. I can see how it might have resembled a hold just from how 52 went down, but if you can't actually see a hold, how can you call a hold? Especially when Meeker's arms were extended the whole time.

Game of inches.

Offensive line played a hell of a game. JGJ and Meeker deserve big props after being maligned two weeks ago, and how about Colin Olsen filling in at center? Probably the second most important position on the offense, and the former defensive lineman is up to the task. Oh, and Trevor Downing, Iowa farm boy extraordinaire, made his first start.
