Not too second guess but..........

Nebraska did get one first down. They had 6 plays. So even with a first down there was time for a stop, plus the Huskers have to punt into the wind.

I like Paul Rhoades and think he is great for ISU, but the field goal is a low % play and gives them to good of field position.

What if we didn't stop Nebraska on 6 plays and they run out the clock to go to overtime? Or what if we aren't able to drive into field goal range after the change of possession? Then you're on here complaining about how we should have taken the field goal attempt. You don't pass up opportunities to win the game on one play when there is no guarantee that the same opportunity will present itself again. Any D1 coach with a kicker with the leg and the wind at his back would have taken that field goal then and there.

Nothing is guaranteed to you 'tomorrow'.

You don't kick the field goal and punt instead. Perhaps....

...You pin them deep...
...You allow a great return...
...You get a touchback...
...You fumble the snap...
...You recover a botched catch...
...You have your punt blocked...
...You fake the punt for a first down...
...You allow a touchdown return...
...etc...
...etc...
...etc...

NOTHING is guaranteed. What is guaranteed? A field goal gives you the lead with 3 minutes remaining in the game.

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.
