I believe I just heard Norm Parker is in the hospital right now. This is per the Matt and Miller show.

The gameplan is already set, does this add a little juice to the hawkeye defense?

Oh yeah, I hope he is OK. Damn good coach.

gotta give the guy props. He has iowa state figured out.

Hopefully he's healthy for the game.

(btw, weren't there rumors that this was going to be his last season?)

Norm is a physical wreck with serious health issues, but he can sure game day a defense. I hope he can make it to the game, but in reality, he should probably hang it up and enjoy some of the huge paychecks he has earned.

From Marc Morehouse (CR Gazette sports writer) Twitter page a hour or so ago:
Iowa D-coordinator Norm Parker in hospital. Wheel chair, right foot bandaged. Doesn't plan to miss game. Walk across street and back.

Seems like he is on death's door every year....followed up by a kick *** season as D Coordinator.

Guy can coach.

Norm Parker is a baller. He has had serious health problems for years now and each year he makes it back and coaches a great defense. I can't see him staying past this season, but who knows.

This shirt says it all, IMO...

Norm and Joe Pa have to be the toughest old men around. Joe Pa once broke a leg or hip and still finished coaching the game.

Seriously, he is a great coach. One of the things that has helped Ferentz the last 12 years is continuity in his coaching staff. That also plagued Hayden in his later years, in that so many of his great assistants had moved on to their own head coaching gigs.

Norm Parker is a BIG reason for the Hawkeyes' success. Hope he is okay. And I hope he isn't a motivation for the Clones-Hawks game.

I hope he's OK.

The man's got every team figured out (except maybe Northwestern). Really a coordinator legend.

But most importantly, I hope he's OK.

And to think he was d-coordinator at Illinois in the early 80's. Yet another brilliant move by the football side of the athletic department at Illinois.
