Nolan's Oppenheimer

Then don't watch Das Boot.

There is a Series called Hell Below. All submarine programming . If you like WWII stuff it is good stuff. The German Subs had a hay day until the USA could put enough equipment in the war effort. There were German Subs off the east coast, blowing shipping out of the water while within site of US cities. Later in the war German subs didn’t last long because of aircraft and ships blowing the subs out of the water.

That was a good movie.

I'm so jealous of you all I don't get to watch this for two weeks.

I don't think I can talk the family into taking an evening away from Spain to watch this in Spanish.

August 5 or August 6 is going to be a big day, though.

That's the way to humble brag your vacationing are you in Spain or down in Mexico?

I wasn't trying to brag about a vacation -- genuinely annoyed I have to wait on Oppenheimer.

But since you asked... Spain, France, Italy, and Andorra.

See you all in August. Great way to make the college football season come faster.

:D

Now dang it post some vacation pics that sounds awesome.

Feels like the 6th is the appropriate day, right?

There have been a lot of ads for the Oppenheimer movie. This is a little concerning because it seems like they advertise heavily on movies that they are worried will flop. Hopefully this one is an exception.
It's tracking to do $50M+ this weekend which is insanely great for an adult movie that is three hours long.

Nice … I did that same itinerary about 18 months ago, plus Monaco. I have a brother with a house in Barcelona so it makes it easier.

If anything, I'm guessing that they're trying to draw a wider audience that maybe wouldn't normally go to a movie about scientists. I can't wait to see it, but I get the feeling my wife isn't going to be as enthusiastic going in.

Rated R movies usually don't get the eyeballs in theaters that a PG-13 movie does. I'm guessing they are trying to overcompensate with ads as a result.

Not to mention, this could be one of the last big tent pole movies to come out for a while due to the writers and now actor's strike.

I would say Oppenheimer and Barbie are kind of the last hopes for summer box office, which has been really bad so far. Hollywood desperately needs a big weekend this weekend or this summer will go down as one of the worst.

They still have Dune 2 coming out later this year, which I hope does huge box office because I loved the first one. If there is ever a movie that is worth seeing in the theaters its that one. Also Disney has an animated flick called Wish coming this fall that is a bit of a return to their more popular musicals of the past. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is one of the top earners of the year like Mario.

Just purchased 2 tickets for Oppenheimer at the IMAX in Waukee. Going to the 9:45am show on Friday because that's the only showtime this weekend where I could find 2 seats together that aren't in the 1st 3 rows! Gonna be weird eating popcorn for breakfast .
