No TV for ISU-Nebraska

On a somewhat related note, ESPN.com is showing our game vs. Texas Tech is at 7pm eastern. (they have not yet updated the ISU-NU start time)

Texas Tech routinely lists a 'placeholder' kickoff time for their home games, until TV picks are announced. That 6pm CT time can (and likely will) change.

kNu???

What does "kNu" stand for? I see it so often on here and I finally must cave and ask what the "k" is for.

Thanks for the help.

I think CF needs a FAQ...

Supposedly, a Nebraska-fanatic once posted on here that the "N" in "NU" stands for "kNowledge". At least that's how I've heard it explained...

the "N stands for knowledge" is an old old saying. the kNu fan that posted it here was just reciting it.

How does one express displeasure with this situation? I'd like to let Beebe know that getting a better TV contract should be one of his top priorities. I checked the Big XII's website, but they don't have any contact information online. Anyone know an email or phone number?

Click the link below and look at the top of the PDF. "bob" is Bob Burda, the assistant commissioner for Communications.

Yeah the big 12 tv contract is very very very bad bad bad!!!

If ever their were fans who need a big 12 network it is the cyclone fans.

The big 12 conference philosophy is simple...WHEN YOU GET GOOD WE WILL PUT YOU ON TV...

OTHERWISE FORGETABOUTIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Nebraska is supposed to be good this year and even they can't get on TV.

Perhaps we should have been rooting for them to win or at least make a game out of their drubbing from USC. That may have gotten us on TV.

Oh, the tangled web we weave...

I have an idea on this crappy tv stuff. Versus still has their Big 12 slot open for several of the weeks this season. Send an email to saying you liked their broadcast this last week and hope to see more Iowa State games on their channel. Exposure is exposure for the program. We have games against OU, Mizzu, K-State, and I believe Colorado on their openings for Big 12 games. Send an email to [email protected].

With the growing number of cable channels that cover sports it is ridiculous that the Big XII had to grant exclusivity time slots in order to negotiate television coverage.

The Big XII contract is so biased towards the top programs that one has to wonder if the Big XII office is working for the good of all its member institutions or just a select few.

Schools like Texas and Oklahoma have the best of all worlds under the current deal. They get virtually all of their games aired and they don't have to share revenues. This perpetuates a revenue and recruiting advantage for the more successful institutions.

It is inconceivable to me why the member institutions allow a contract that grants exclusivity without the sharing of revenues. How can you justify limiting institutions rights to TV exposure without an even distribution of either exposure or revenue? This makes no sense unless you're only trying to benefit a select few.

Now that the start time has been set, for you guys who are going over on Friday night, make sure you hit up Misty's and Brewsky's in downtown Lincoln. You guys will be well taken care of.

Some USC fans talk about their trip to Lincoln: Nebraska Fans are awesome! - WeAreSC Forums
My favorite place before a game is THE SIDETRACKS.....that place is classic! Its only open the nite before games, and the morning of Husker games. Trust me, its a real experience clones.

Its tradition that the band they have there asks for an oppossing teams fan(s) to get on stage and sing their fight song. I just hope I'm not the only ISU fan there, so I don't get picked to sing for a bunch of tanked Husker fans.

Well, maybe now that Nebraska is getting booted off of TV on Big 12 opening day, they might be persuaded to change their vote on the revenue sharing issue.

As the speculation goes, that would make 9 votes in favor of revenue sharing...

According to this site: http://www2.indystar.com/NCAA_financial_reports/revenue_stat/show Texas gets 4.5 million more than we do in conference distributions. That'd be about a 15% increase in our athletic budget

Can someone tell me when the current TV package contract ends? With the new commish dont you think it should be priority #1 on his list.

I looked it up a couple weeks ago and it is good until 2010. If there will be a Big 12 type network in the near future, it will most likely have to be a partnership with Fox unless we wait until 2010.

I don't see anything changing in the Big 12 in the near future. It would require a change of heart in the conference to better support the smaller schools.

Could we organize some sort of protest march to B12 headquarters. I bet the Big Red Nation would join in after this year.

i was glad to watch the game last weekend on tv but it would be nice to see some more. guess we'll have to wait until we start out 3-0 or 4-0 before we get some tv exposure.

its ok kNu tailgating sucks anyway. better to go to the bars after. and be classy clones. they will treat you much like a hawk would. kill them with kindness and show them how to act classy, win or lose.

Classy like your avitar? Calvin taking a whizz on the Nebraska logo?

Yep - show them how to act classy. Very nice.
