Can someone tell me why I get zero cell service in JT during game time?

Verizon

US Cellular has put portable cell towers around the stadium for the last few years, but still the demand makes for slow going...

Verizon had a portable tower in G7 last week, but it had not been raised or the generator started before we left to go into the game.

I have US Cellular and was unable to connect to the internet on my phone while in the stadium. My wife had trouble sending picture messages also.

I haven't had any major issues with US Cell. SOmetimes halftime gets quite a bit slower.

It doesn't seem to be an issue at a major airport.

Airports are full of those people every day, so they build the infrastructure to support it. JTS has this many people 6-7 days a year.

Us Cellular has atleast one mobile tower parked outside the stadium so I assume that's why they'd be better.

I get call coverage fine with Sprint inside the stadium, but my data speeds are so slow it's basically not usable.

The only time Verizon has let me down has been at JT so I guess I can live with it.

They have at least 3 mobile towers around the Iowa State Center.

Like everyone else said, the demand is just too high. I do enjoy checking game stats during timeouts and halftime and i've never had a problem. If you're basing your experience off of last week, remember that was one of the highest attended games in recent history.

I wouldn't say Verizon "sucks" everyone who is smart in the midwest and wants service has verizon. shove 50,000 of them into a square mile and things get sketch. I dont look at my phone until after the game. Its been bad luck for me before.

How about instead of sexting or updating your Facebook status every 5 minutes, you watch the game and cheer on the Cyclones while you're there instead?
