NIL and Gambling

For what it’s worth, Riverside Casino gave the Iowa NIL Collective $500,000 to be the official casino of the Swarm Collective. We Will not do this for a variety of reasons.
Would be curious if that is the reason Barta kept an arm's length relationship between Iowa Athletic Department & Iowa NIL Collective. I remember the SWARM guy being critical of Barta in every media outlet that would give him a voice.

Riverside has always been a big sponsor of Iowa Athletic Department. It would be interesting to know if Riverside received some benefit for their NIL dollars- player appearances at casino, facility space for collective events, etc.

It raising money for your NIL is ****** conduct, I have news for you, this is the new landscape of college football. Not sure how this is shady dealings?

You probably don't condone ISU taking money from ESPN any more then?

Working hard at trying to be a jerk today. Be nice if you could get a month worth of vacation

Q-nuts will throw anything against the wall to see what will stick.

Ah yes, the noted Q-nuts at Deadspin circa 2014. Hard to believe that a year earlier they tried to convince us all that Manti Te’o didn’t really have a dead girlfriend.

I do believe Stevie Wonder is blind, but 1) the article is hysterical, and 2) let’s be a little more thorough with our source criticism.

There is nothing shady about what they are doing. And it is hard to take the high road when Ames Lager appears to be the on the verge of (if not already there) becoming the main contributor to the WW collective.

Alcohol and gambling are both vices that are fine when not abused and done within one's means, but we've all seen instances where abuse or ignorance of either has led to negative outcomes.
He implied it was unethical or immoral, not me.

The Iowa West Foundation, for example, helps a number of charities with funds derived from gambling.

He was quick to perceive an insinuation that it was not "the high road". And so he had to suggest that "little brother ISU" wasn't important enough to receive such an offer from a casino to make himself feel better.

I was commenting on the mentality of a Hawk troll posting on CF. Nothing more.

This was sent to me Friday after all of the gambling stuff came out. So it appears using it as an incentive, which honestly probably makes both a lot of money.

I stay away from Iowa-ISU Twitter, but got a peep into the beast recently. Sheesh, I underestimated the obsession Iowa fans have with Blum and the **** measuring contests they have between collectives. It feels like some of them are more into fundraising numbers than the actual games. That's some SEC weirdo behavior.

Oh, they ******* HATE Blum. They have for years. It’s just really dialed with the NIL stuff. I’ve heard multiple crazy rants in person from Hawk fans about him. It’s really really strange.

I'm going to double back on this idea because I think it works and it'd be fun as hell. It can't be We Will and I understand that but I'm sure people remember the old "betting" on this forum. It was a good time. I don't know how it'd work but I can guarantee there's a significant amount of people on this site that'd pledge at least $5 a week betting on a cyclone nation community game once a week. I think it'd add up big time at the end of the year as long as we weren't ******* on our picks. @brentblum this seems like a perfect Cyclone Larry assignment.

The wild thing is both my grandparents were professors at Iowa, my mom played tennis there and I was born in the U of I hospitals. Heck, my twin brother is an alum from Iowa. I probably have more connections than 90 percent of their fans! But people can make weird conclusions based on fandom.

Don’t tell them that Blum!!! You’ll make them feel bad!!!

Can we talk about Ames lager? Seems like a pretty big miss to not have it at the fair
Sounds like it was probably too tight of a timeline.

Rumor is though, if you see Brent in public and ask him for one, he has to give you one for free. Kinda like a cop has to tell you if they're a cop, or you get free college if you get hit by CyRide.
