Nick Noskowiak

Nobody said anything about not taking him. I simply am wondering why we can't sell 16/17 to a couple higher profile transfers so we are reloading and not rebuilding.

When I say that, I get a chorus of "We have NN, he's a 4 star!"

Which makes me want to think a little bit more critically about why it was so insanely easy for us to get him, and why nobody else even seemed to try. It's a fair question, and nobody has an answer, they just want to act like I don't want NN to come here or that I think he's terrible.

I'd just like to think critically a little bit here and not just blindly assume everything is going to be amazing no matter what because that's what is happening.

Because everyone is telling our recruits fred is leaving and he hasn't out right denied it because their is a possibility. Why so hard to figure out? Bulls would make fred think hard. Nick doesn't care.

Agree, but our ability to put together a notable spring class was hurt with MA leaving. Plus recruiting has always been tough. The spring 2013 class was pretty meh until we got lucky with Kane.

I'm not talking about Purdue. I'm talking about Kentucky, Florida, MSU, Duke, Texas, ect. There can not be more than 10 teams (if that) who couldn't use a top 100 player on their roster. Doesn't that raise questions for anyone else?
Most of those teams already have most of their high school recruits signed before the spring period. It's all about team needs and how a guy fits in. Maybe a lot of the big schools already had a point guard in/close to his class. Teams don't just say "hey, this guy is a top 100 recruit and he's out of his commitment, we better sign him!" especially this late in the period.

So the explanation is that there just isn't demand for a top 80-100 recruit?

Isn't this late enough in the process that a ton of schools who missed their #1 guy or even #2 guy would want to at least try to jump in?

Why would they waste their resources jumping in on a kid who looks 100% settled on ISU? There was plenty of dead period between when he de-committed and when he said he was only considering ISU and USC.

Because we weren't even recruiting him at that point!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were 2 months between his release and when we got back involved. What about that timeframe?

Only 7 days between Feb 10th and April 12th are dead periods. I think we got back involved around April 7th or so.

Well there was this thing called March madness going on.

Why didn't Fred recruit 15-20 HS PFs for this year in the top 100? And lay everything in the Diallo bucket? Hell idk. Just how things work out sometimes. Maybe other teams did reach out to NN and he said he wasn't interested.

No prior relationships. Kid who didn't play much his senior season. Why waste their time?

How is recruiting a top 10 player in the country vs recruiting 15-20 HS PFs the same as not taking a shot at a top 80 guard who seems to have little interest coming from other schools?

Custer announced he was transferring on March 24.

Because he's a top 80 talent in the country?

Can you have it both ways that he is going to be a top 80 talent for ISU and that nobody wanted him because he wasn't worth it?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. It's not like he's in trouble with the law.

Cal, Minnesota,VT were all in the mix after his release, not sure what happened in between then and when NN narrowed it down to USC and ISU so let's not act like ISU was the only team trying to get NN.

The kid committed to Marquette, then re-opened his recruitment after Buzz left, then signed with Marquette, the asked to get out of his LOI and the rumor was that he had depression.

It's easy to see why he wasn't recruited hard by other schools.

Bottom line is he has his personal problems cleaned up and TJ/Fred want him.

I'm pumped for the kid because he probably feels like he has a point to prove.

Of course that had an influence on our interest, but why did nobody have interest before?

And even before Custer was leaving, are we really going to turn down a top 80 G because of Clayton Custer?

He didn't have depression, his dad released that statement and he corrected it and said he had an abusive father and needed to get out of that household. He said that in the release about him not going to Marquette in February.
