Nick Babb Outlook

So if we have an over abundance of guards that means they can play tight, disruptive defense right? Look at a team like WVU that rotates 10 guys. They always have a fresh guy with less fouls sitting at the scorers table ready to come in and mug us. We couldnt do that this season because we had a 6 man rotation.

The most important question: will all the ladies (and many dudes) fawn over him as much as they did Chris?

I'm straight as they come but Chris Babb was one delicious slice of human.
Eww! Is that w/ or w/o BBQ sauce?

And we play basketball. You say tight disruptive defense I say fouling everything and riding the wind on whether the officials will blow all night or not.

No. None of those guys would leave other than Morris to go Pro(which he isn't)or Naz because he can't get a waiver(which he will), Those who transferred wouldn't do it, they hated already having to sit out once. It's not normal for someone who's going to see a lot of D1 minutes leave.

Sure it's possible, but not likely at all.

Please don't jinx us. Your predictions aren't all that reliable.

Without a rim protector that can be dangerous. Running some presses to eat up clock as opposed to trying to get steals, like WVU, is certainly a more viable option.

I'm with you. Just a nice little 3/4 pressure to wear teams down and maybe frustrate them would be fine. We don't need to go the WVU route without a rim protector.

Babb was one of if not my all time favorite Cyclone. I'm trying very hard to not expect his brother to be the same thing, but man do I want another Babb locking people down every night.

Who's going to leave though. I doubt Hallice or Babb are going to since they've already transferred. Naz and Matt aren't. Jackson and Long committed knowing the situation. Monte could go pro but I don't think he will.

Not just committed bit signed. Not that they couldn't ask for a release but I don't think they will, and certainly hope they don't. Long may redshirt and Jackson wil get minutes.

That isn't tight, disruptive defense, that is fouling everything and hoping the official doesn't blow the whistle...

SDW transferred after using his RS (though he seemed to have gotten some kind of waiver that I never heard the specifics of). If a player expected to play fewer than 5 min/game, do you think they'd see that as that much favorable to sitting out a year and than being in a more favorable position?

D Williams was let out of his LOI and went to St. John's, so that's obviously a possibility. And there is the possibility of the recruiting assistant coach leaving again as well.

I don't see any single scenario of attrition as being extremely likely. But a lot of small chances adds up to a decent chance of one happening. Like I said, I expect 1 or 2 of those guys not to be here. Could be Morris, maybe someone else.

Tell you what, if Morris, Naz, Thomas, Jackson, Cooke, Babb, and Long are all eligible and able to play on the first day of the Big 12 season I'll change my signature to 'Rustshack was right' for the rest of the season.

If 3 of them went seniors next year I may agree. However considering Jackson, Babb and Cooke or Long would likely start the next year sitting out a year to get exactly what they would get staying isn't logical. It isn't like they are caught behind sophmores.

Transferring would make sense for both Cooke and Ashton. They will be passed by Jackson and Babb. At best, that gives them a chance for playing time in two years but we then have to assume no one else will be brought in and pass them.

Of course, they could get better and compete with the two guys mentioned which I would like to see because it gives us experience and depth for the next couple years. I think both bring some things to the table that could be useful, especially Cooke. I think he just needs a little confidence.

One thing we don't talk about is that it's not necessarily a guarantee that Naz fully recovers. Say something happens to he and Monte. Then we probably actually need at least one of them. What would make sense, even if they don't see time in their future this year, is to play this year out, graduate, and if they're still buried, then leave.

So why wouldn't Cooke just grad transfer after this year? His situation is literally stay and compete and if you fail leave and play elsewhere immediately or leave now and lose a year of eligibility and play in 2 years. Cooke staying is a no brainer.

Cooke will not transfer. If he did, he would sit a year and lose a year.

Can you imagine if Chris Babb were on this team? We'd have beaten UVA for sure.

I guess while you're coming up with impossible scenarios we should add PAtrick Ewing and Michael Jordan. But . . . :twitcy:

SDW transferred after red shirting however he was granted a waiver and played right away.

Right, he transferred at semester in 14-15 and only had to sit the spring 15 semester for Oakland, obviously. Poor kid still didn't get much play this year I don't think
