Next year's schedule

You still haven't based anything on facts yet.

Maybe you should go back to the posts where I actually used facts. How many times has AA thrown 4 picks in a game? Once. So it's ordinary for AA to throw 4 picks in a game considering he's done it once in college. Ok, gotcha.

Tell me where I said it was ordinary for AA to throw four picks in a game.

Since you're so big into stats, specifically QB rating (see your post about Sage and Seneca), please explain how AA is so good, but has the 87th best QB rating in D1? If you would like extra credit, explain how he is behind all QBs in the Big 12 besides the one from CU?

My post was that he was an average QB in the Big 12. Tell me with a straight face where you'd rank him among Big 12 QBs.

Totally agree about 2011. I know everyone likes to talk about rising to the challenge and all that, but I really think ISU should look at trying to get out of the tough non-conference games. Bad enough to have to face UT and OU back to back. No reason to make things any harder but scheduling up in the non conference.

Really impressive, Cy Hard. Congratulations on taking immaturity on this board to a whole new level.

Pot, meet Kettle.

AA is an average Big 12 QB at best. Our biggest win of this year came with him on the bench. Can't wait until he's gone...

If you think the QB position had much to do with ISU defeating Nebraska, there is no point in continuing this discussion with you.

Of course the defense won that game for us. QB wasn't involved, except for the fact that Tiller didn't screw up. That's all he had to do. More than you can say about AA's performance against Iowa. Worst game by a QB that I've even seen at Iowa State.

As a whole I think this board is too high on this team today and too high on this team in the future. Rhoads is doing some good things and I feel that he is building it right, but we aren't ready for the next level yet. We only have 1 quality win this season due to a freakish bout of turnovers, and that is with a schedule that is very very soft.

OU and UT will just reload, those are losses. Iowa is on the road and they pretty much bring back everyone, that is also a loss. I also don't have a good feeling about Utah, I see a loss there as well. TT is a team that we just won't be ready to handle on defense yet, so mark that an L. After that, who knows, it looks like KSU may have something going under Sneider. And who knows what Nebraska is going to do.

The fact of the matter is, I see 5 for sure Ls before the season even starts as long as I stay away from the Kool-Aid. That only leaves room for one trademark WTF Cyclone style L to come limping home for a bowl game. We need to play a game like Utah in one of the years we don't play OU and UT, if we play it at all. A lot of programs, even the big namers, load up on total cupcakes out of conference. I think for a team like ours that is struggling to get some momentum in the program, we need to do the same.

This is the best post in this thread. I'm really excited about this year and our coaching staff and our recruiting class. Things are looking up for the Cyclones. But let's be realistic.

We are going to lose our quality assistant coaches over the next 2 years (with the exception of the Burnhams who I think will be with us for a while). Will we be able to replace them with equal or better talent? I don't know, but I do know that we have to do better than dead last in the Big 12 in paying our assistants or the good ones will only come to ISU for a stepping stone position.

The nice recruiting class they've put together is great, but how many of them will see the field next year in meaningful time? 4?

One positive is that I expect our offense to be much better next year (as long as Herman stays). Key is how well we replace Reggie.

I am very, very excited about our football program, but realistically I see us winning about 4-5 games next year. Those of you predicting 8-10 wins are setting yourselves up for disappointment.

One game....one mother ******* game. Let it go man. You seem to also ignore that our offensive coordinator came into that game with a rather poo gameplan.

BTW...I've watched far worse games by ISU quarterbacks.

Playing OU and Texas next year is like playig OSU and aTm this year....2 loses. And has anyone taken a look at OU this year...not exactly scary anymore. They have been playing merry go round with their OL for 3 years now and it is kicking their butt.
What I am saying is having Texas and OU back on the schedule doesn't limit us. Texas OU are what they are but everyone else on the schedule is beatable. We can accomplish everything we have this year and more is we beat the teams in the North. We will be lucky to beat Utah. iowa is what it is and you never know what can happen. The good news is we have teams like Kansas, Mizzou, Neb, and TT at home. colorado should have a new coach or hawkins *** will be burning.

Next years schedule is no different than this years.

Future Schedule Analysis Fail.

Give some reasons... We have two for sure losses. Texas and OU. One that is most likely a loss...Utah. so that is three that are pretty sure to be losses.

Give me one other team on our schedule that we can't beat. And a bunch of the close games will be in Ames. TT is down and it is their OL, Nebraska loses Suh among others, Mizzou is human again, KU loses all of their offensive production, KSU loses half their starters, UNI, NIU, CU will be down, Iowa game is always up in the air.

At least I analyzed the schedule where as you were lazy and see Texas, OU, and Utah on the schedule and say it is tougher.

Tazclone=analyze

Please... if anything you are making some extravagant assumptions on future teams performance. Looking at ISU's performance vs the 4 teams, UT, OU, A&M, and OSU since Big12 play was formed:

1996 - Big12 ISU vs (record, points forced, allowed):

UT 0-6, 120 PF - 252 PA
OU 0-6, 50 PF - 201 PA
A&M 1-5, 146 PF - 231 PA
OSU 3-4, 163 PF - 194 PA

Its pretty obvious that based off ISU's past performance vs those teams that ISU fares better off against A&M and OSU. Granted, things can change in conference play, but until OSU beats OU on a regular basis, and A&M beats the cr@p out of Texas, I will stick to my guns on this one.

That good enough? I can keep going...

Based off what I know now, this is how I think next year will pan out (I hope I am wrong):

W NIU
L @ Iowa
L Utah
W UNI
L TT
L @ KSU (Arrowhead)
L @ OU
L @ UT
W Kansas
L Nebraska
W @ Colorado
L Missouri

4-8 (2-6)

Bottom line, next years schedule is a b!tch.

Okay, I will play along.

Northern Ill.? A win

Iowa? The Hawks will still be loaded on Defense and Offense. However, I see this as more of a toss up game.

I'm going with ISU upsetting Utah at home.

I think Northern Iowa will be tougher to beat. I'm not sure who UNI loses off their team this year, but they will play ISU hard. I see this more of a toss-up game.

Texas Tech? Yep they are good, but I sense another upset. (Love that kool-aid)

KSU at Arrowhead? Win

OU and Texas? Back to back losses. Although I don't think OU is going to be all that great. Could Arnaud pull a Chris Peterson and lead ISU to a victory at OU? Stranger things have happened.

Kansas. I agree with you. This is a win.

Nebraska. I'm thinking this is more of a toss up game rather than a sure loss. Sure the Huskers will be coming in with revenge on their mind, but I think they lose a lot on defense (I could be wrong, however).

Colorado. I don't know about a win out there. ISU has been pretty unlucky out there. Toss up.

Missouri? I like ISU's chances of knocking off the Tigers next year, AND THIS YEAR.

So here is how I break it down. 6 wins, four toss up games (yep, I am a pansy for not picking a winner) and two for sure losses.
