The cardinal doesn't look perfect, but weren't last years uniforms maroon and white?

Don't you think this is the same as the football uniforms? I think those are the "correct" colors, but they look lighter because they are in the sun or something. If you really compared them to the football pictures from media day (which I haven't) I bet they are the same.

Hopefully...

Who knew that getting colors right could baffle an entire Division 1 athletic department?

I don't think that it's their fault. It's Nike. Only some of our sports qualify as getting unique unis made. The rest have to go with the off-the-shelf color scheme.

Which has always drove me nuts. If a university signs a contract with a company all uniforms should follow exact color specifications.

That's true at a lot of schools, though, not just ISU.
Look at Michigan - their football unis are blue and almost a "neon yellow." Not consistent with their basketball, hockey, or other sports.

There is a thread aroudn here that explains that we are not in the right category of schools (Elite) for Nike to develop a exact match for all uniforms. Last I knew Football and Track were the only teams getting the exact color ISU wants.

There's also a video posted on the Facebook page of them in the new uniforms. The cardinal looks darker in the video than in the photo, so who knows? Guess we'll have to wait until we see them in Hilton.

The whole color matching thing has to be a nightmare for Athletics. Getting new pep band jerseys took over a year longer than expected because the companies weren't sending any color samples that Athletics approved of. Even the final ones still seem off. I'd imagine it's even worse for basketball and volleyball uniforms trying to get it right since their exposure is so much higher than us lowly band kids. :cute:
