New Uniforms Revealed

Nike did these for a lot of teams - they all used the same font - they were not meant to evoke the late-80s/early 90s helmets
Lol, no, Nike did not “do these for a lot of teams”.

These are literally generic, non-school-branded Nike polos, where ISU worked with someone to DIY on a generic-ass Cyclones Brush Script font patch.

Sure, I’ll grant that other schools may also sometimes choose to DIY on their own logos to things, i.e. plain Nike gear. ISU however has a passion for this. And the fun part for fans is, it looks really cheap and obviously DIY’d too! Really cool going to a fan gear website and seeing how Iowa State now decided to reallllllly cheap out and not even offer the Nike elite level apparel anymore.

I’m pretty sure we went all white against Akron in 2017 when we did the two red stripes with the red stencil logo and it was awesome.

I miss cardinal/cardinal/cardinal. That combo rocks
I think we'll get one c/c/c this year, even with 1 less home game and the TCU Trice 100 year game.

I still think it's trademark Campbell, and it might be our last year with these. No spoiler alert here at all, 'cause I don't know.
But ... law of averages! :)

I could've sworn we had at least one win w/ W-W-W, until I saw @Sigmapolis summary.

It's a good look, not my favorite, but I like it better than some. If I didn't like it and we were winless, I'd be more in favor of purging it.
And even if we were winless in w/w/w, which we aren't, we shouldn't let silly 'stitions get in our way. It's funny how we (humans) do let them though.

Could ISU tell UNI that ISU was going to wear white for this game?
Not certain, but I think UNI would have to be agreeable to this since the home team normally must wear the dark uniform and the visiting team the light uniform, so I doubt we'll be wearing white jerseys.

Because of this, if I were Campbell, I'd have them wear the white helmets, red jerseys, and white pants combo, but that's just my opinion.

Home team gets the choice of colored/white jerseys. Visitors get the other, so there’s nothing preventing ISU from wearing white at home if they want to.

NCAA used to have a rule requiring that the visitors wear white, but they got rid of that around 2009 … and even before that schools like LSU got permission to wear white at home.

And of course, sometimes teams both wear colored jerseys (USC-UCLA is the obvious example), but they need permission to do that and the colors have to be contrasting.

2. The visiting team shall wear white jerseys; however, the home team may wear white jerseys if the teams have agreed in writing before the season.

3. If the home team wears colored jerseys, the visiting team may also wear colored jerseys, if and only if the following two conditions have been satisfied

a. The home team has agreed in writing prior to the game; and
b. The conference of the home team certifies that the jersey of the visiting team is of a contrasting color.

Didn't know the rule changed in 2009. Thanks!

Well, okay - I saw the 2021 NCAA rules do say just that. Huh - guess that article I read claiming the rule was eliminated in 2009 was wrong.

Interestingly enough, those rules also say knee pads are required, and knee pads and pants must cover the knee …

(I know this photo is preseason/practice gear, but you and I both know there are loads of college football players who violate this rule. Hell, I’ve seen a bunch of high school players in pants that stop above the knee, and that‘s clearly a violation of high school rules, too)
