New Uniforms Revealed

Had to cut your pic; file too large to post...TN
Here is a good reference image, a pic of David Holley, 1981 media day, courtesy of Wes Winterink.

The top overlayed box is an 'estimate' of what our '70's sunflower gold was (see, (cycloneuniforms.weebly.com), for any 1970 uniform; this is close but I think it might have been a shade darker). The middle overlayed box is from (cycloneuniforms.weebly.com) also, but from the 1981 season. We had (I think) a slight gold color change in 1979, with Donnie Duncans first year, so this would represent his tenure. The 3rd (bottom) overlay box is from 073jb's recent post. It is darker still but also with a lot more 'orange'.

Our gold history is an interesting study. I will post an image soon, which shows the historical gold (and cardinal) progression, since the Stapleton era. Needless to say, our current gold/yellow is much lighter and brighter than these shades.
All three of those are better than what we have now. I still prefer the top box and would put the middle box comfortably in 3rd of those three. I understand computers make it difficult to zero in on.
Same pic of Mr. Holley, 1981 season, with added Hybrid1-3 Gold to the Sunflower Gold (top boxes), and the McCarney1 Gold (bottom Box, next to 073jb's 'orange' gold box).

I learned a lot from this compilation. It is accurate as to the colors listed on Weebly.com. I cannot vouch for the color "accuracy" on the cycloneuniforms.weebly.com, however. I imagine it is reasonably accurate, I would think/hope. This Color History does give a nice comparison, if nothing else.

Stapleton colors are the best

I love cardinal and gold, and I agree that the Stapleton colors are likely the best (followed by Bruce and maybe now--cardinal and gold only), but ironically the current coach (who has won a lot of games) and the players like black. As a 1988 ISU grad, I would love more real school colors than the black stuff, but my tiny donations and my tuition payments for my own children's education are not enough to make a difference. No building or end zone club will be named for my family.

I do think that most alumni would like to see school colors featured. But as JP has mentioned in many interviews, black uniforms make CMC and the current players happy.

I look at this picture and all I can think about is turf burns.
You are right!!! I hadn't thought of that. Those poor players!

When did Trice Field go back to grass?

Happy Fathers Day, Cyclone fathers!!! Go out and make some more Little Cyclones!

I’m good with the black. The black and white combos are next level. What I don’t care for is the red and yellow. I continue to be disappointed that we can’t get back to the cardinal and gold.

Stapleton colors are the best
I like the 1947-53 colors.
I wonder what it would have been like if we kept the sunflower gold and brought back the Stapleton1 gold (lighter of the 2 golds), let's say in 1979?

Here's a new compilation of what "could have been". Everything here is make believe, starting with 1979. Fun to think about. We could still bring back the lighter Stapleton gold...(probably in an alternate universe).
