Or even better "Leaning Cy" leaning against the Iowa State 'I'. I have a black hat with that on it and I recently learned from random hawk fan that the hawkeyes invented - along with waving, the color black and several other things - the letter 'I'.

Wear Leaning Cy helmets for the Iowa game to really get their goat.

My only feeling on our Alt uni is it was supposed to be our Alt uni, and it has now become our main uni....But now our alt black is just what it is, what we wear all the time, nothing special.

....I would be completely fine with wearing black a couple games a year, and the above white with black a game or two as well, as long as we wear our regular unis too

All of this.

Since the debut of the black jersey (WVU 2018), there have been 21 games where ISU has been the "home" team -- whether it was a home game, or wearing the "home" uniform at a neutral site (Orlando, Arlington, Glendale).

Cardinal jersey - 11 (3x with black helmets)
Black jersey - 10 (8x with black pants, 2x with white pants)

Good idea. Just please never use the Bucky Badger Cy, I wish we’d get rid of that version!

Does Campbell go alt blacks vs uofI? I've originally thought that's the part of the purpose. take one of if not their main differentiator away from them.

  • Disagree
Reactions: Aclone
As an ISU alum, I've never cared for the red/yellow - let's leave that for USC - and would like to see the 'clones dump that and permanently adopt the colors you'd encounter as an EF5 tornado bears down across an Iowa dirt field - Iowa topsoil black, stormcloud grey, cumulonimbus white for trim. Cyclone is a powerful team name - let's go all in with it and dump Cy. Fire up the storm siren!

Apparently on your “authentic” kick, you doubtless want us to become the Iowa State Tornados as well—since Cyclones belong in a different hemisphere.
Near as I can tell, cyclone is valid term for tornado:

cyclone: a system of winds rotating inward to an area of low atmospheric pressure, with a counterclockwise (northern hemisphere) or clockwise (southern hemisphere) circulation

“Hurricanes are tropical storms that form over the North Atlantic Ocean and Northeast Pacific. Cyclones are formed over the South Pacific and Indian Ocean.”

Not if you look at how the term Cyclone was used in history, how we got our name. Cyclones, is/was a term for tornados especially in rural central US.

And trying to say we got our name from a tropical storm in the Indian Ocean instead of a slang term used for Tornados in Rural Midwest in the early 20th century, makes NO sense.
