I get wanting to make it special, team issued apparel for the bowl game but why can't you make it available for sale to the public after the fact? You wouldn't be able to keep that stuff on the shelves at Scheels.

A few years ago, the Bills and Jets did a color rush game and the Bills came out in their all reds. Looked awesome. It'd be a gaudy juxtaposition, but impossible to ignore. (I would dig it, others will disagree).

I would drop hundreds of dollars on stuff like this yet it's never what they sell to the public
Sorry, No room on the shelves for this cool stuff because we need 7 variations of this instead:

This is the coolest black uniform idea I've seen yet: .

I actually like those black jerseys with the cardinal numbers and gold accents A LOT.
Would be a great alternate to our back and whites.
Color is one of the most powerful ways a university can identify itself. Used consistently, the colors chosen to represent Iowa State create a strong identifying image. Conversely, some colors and color combinations can be confusing.
Colors associated with other public institutions, such as the one on the eastern side of the state, should not be used. Even though gold is one of Iowa State's primary colors, use of black and gold together should be avoided. Purple is not within any of Iowa State's color palettes and should never be used.
Seeing the mockups that include color accents on the black, I'm pretty sure we'll never see one that puts the gold next to the black, based on the university branding guidelines:
Color Palette - Brand Standards (under Colors Combinations to Avoid)

I still think it looks bad on a uniform. Reminds me of those gross anthracite jerseys we had a few years back. Too messy imo. Black with some toned down cardinal could work. I think I have seen that color combo in some graphics from the football Twitter.
