New Uniforms Revealed

Probably not.

Campbell would probably do this all the time if he could get away with it --

Well I won't be running him out of town. But how disappointing really. Yeah we used all-black 2x last year, IIRC, then the new monochrome w/b/w combo. Primary black in 3 of 6 Home games.

I'm still going to hold onto hope for a gold set. And like you I don't really think we need a gold jersey at this time. But a gold helmet and pant, '77 gold would be fantastic, and perhaps more palatable to him?

Yeah and those '77 unis were sweet, understated, perfect really. That's the gold we had, the helmet, etc. Then the two variations that year, both Away g/w/g, Beat Iowa, and Iowa State (Peach Bowl) across the front w/ sh stripes.

What the he!! happened after that? Well really after '82? :(

Really wish we'd go with that classic look and just update the helmet with the modern logo (minus the beveling). Or, hell- use the 70s logo on occasion.

What is the Pantone/RGB/CMYK for that version of the gold?

I am curious how it compares to the official colors used in the Foundation style guide (page 5). https://www.foundation.iastate.edu/...nid=a20d788d-55e0-4b9d-8fd8-e3151dabcf44&cc=1
There was a document specific to the athletic department standards, but I can't seem to find it. I did find a copy at the following website, but it is troubling that I can no longer find it under a cyclones.com or iastate.edu domain.

There is an official color guide here(https://www.brandmarketing.iastate.edu/brand-elements/color-palette/) but it is not specific to athletics. And they have a guide

It looks like there is one for the athletics department, but you need a login to view it. https://www.trademark.iastate.edu/info/athletics

Top two. The third would be awesome for an occasional alternate look (better than monochrome!), but otherwise some TV viewers would have to think about it too long.
My idea on the third helmet was for the negative space of the "A" on top of the "I" would read "IA" State.

Love the look of the top helmet. One minor thing, I'd almost want the award-tornadoes to be used without the white circle. Not an uncommon look for helmet stickers, but it seems to overpower or distract from overall look. Just my opinion, of course -- but would like to see a comparison.
I can maybe make a version without the white circles in Photoshop. This photo is an actual helmet I created, I'll see what I can do when I get some time.

Here's an extensive analysis from Uni Watch:

Boned: A Close Look at the Rams' New Uniforms
Interesting.

Here's the last paragraph in that article: "Like so many failed uniform sets, this one feels like it’s trying too hard to be of the moment. And like most things that try to do that, it will quickly look dated and passé. The only question now, as many people pointed out yesterday, is whether a cancelled NFL season will count toward the league’s five-year uniform change rule, since the Rams definitely won’t be wearing these much longer than that."

This is new to me. Is there a 5 year uniform change rule now in the NFL? That will stir some things in Green Bay and Kansas City, two teams that have been resistant to any uni changes.

(First, your response makes me realize I meant to post the Rams analysis in the Chargers/Rams thread, instead of this thread ... I re-posted there).

I wasn't aware of the 5-year rule, either, assuming it means a team's primary design has to be used for at least 5 seasons before there's a switch (?)

But that '77 team couldn't do this.. CyUni 2020 b5 G7Pant5 28- r w r BlkfaceRBW RdScks.png Well we can't either w/ those stripes. Don't have stripes yet, and haven't done a '77 gold color addition.

Until I started using the '67-'82 gold just last week, cardinal pant IMO looked terrible w/ any current yellow or white stripes. But I have recently been playing w/ cardinal pant stripes w/ the new (old) gold. It really needs something to improve it.

I like this stripe here, '77 gold w/ a touch of white, matches shoulder stripe on cardinal jersey, goes w/ white jersey great. It also does look great w/ c/c/c and other main combos we have used using red pant. IMO of course!

Can anyone think of any football team, college or pro, that uses a "gold" similar to the one pictured below? Maybe Boston College? I can't think of any myself. Which is just another reason to go back to it IMO. And I personally LOVE the white numbers too. But the cardinal and gold used in the pic below is perfect IMO.....

Those ISU pants are perfect.

Us in a couple of years!! Haha! Fingers crossed. The people closest to Campbell and J. Pollard will have to plant the seed however. Pictures like this could help!

The more I see this pic and pics of the colors we had from '67-'82, it amazes me why they so dramatically went away from that in '83 and beyond. I can see occasional design changes, after all that is ISU, albeit many not so great! But we should have kept that color scheme.

Wasn't it because of the black eye on the program?
