I think the mirrored-into-orange Tennessee helmets look nice as a changeup.

Reminds me of when Wisconsin did the same thing with red --



It is nice when they don't look like a clone of Nebraska.

Been pretty quiet in here lately (for obvious reasons...), but today is Army-Navy & for a while now, both teams have sported special one-off unis for this game

IMO, a lot of the unis they've worn since this trend began have been pretty bad... I wish rather than going alternate, both teams would go throwback - Navy's navy & gold '60s throwbacks (Roger Staubach-esque) were pretty great, save for the helmet - the hand-painted helmets look great up close on their own, but they just look like a blob from the stands or on television

Navy's unis for this year's game are fairly boring (which might be a good thing...) & Army's aren't too bad, but the gradient on the lower half of the jersey is MEH... green top/cream pants would have been fine, no gradient needed, again, IMO

I know this is mostly a football uni thread, but I want to remind everyone that Iowa State wrestling does the best with our school colors and keeping it vintage and simple. Perfect uniforms. Also want the none wrestling fans to know we have a top 5 team. Go cyclones

First thought was that they also said cyclones on the pants. Really don’t like stripes that don’t connect and I really hate names on the pants.

I know this is mostly a football uni thread, but I want to remind everyone that Iowa State wrestling does the best with our school colors and keeping it vintage and simple. Perfect uniforms. Also want the none wrestling fans to know we have a top 5 team. Go cyclones

I’m pretty sure those are shorts. There’s no way we’re practicing in full pads and there’s also almost no way we already have the uniforms for next year.

I like these too. The block "I" with the ISU would be a great alt/retro logo. Of course this look very much depends on us adding back our '70's sunflower gold. I've been advocating that for a while now (while also keeping our present gold).

But I agree with you. Some of the mocks I'm working on (well not really working on them much at the moment) had the CYCLONES, as a stripe. I didn't really like it either.

The 3/4 stripe might work (in my mind) if the stripe went all the way to the end of the pant, and if it were a subtle dark red. I'm gonna do one like that and see.

Otherwise, with this current set, on the cardinal pant, as boring as it might be, no stripe at all, is probably best look.

Correct. With a stud Carr back in the rest king team the recreated the singlet and robe from when his dad was an NCAA champ!

I'm resigned to the fact that we'll never get those colors back even though they are infinitely better than what we have now (specifically the bright ugly yellow).

We're due for a uniform update. We got the new bigger numbers a couple years ago when we went away from the black collar. The numbers are unique and I like how they incorporate the cyclone swirl, but they haven't aged well. Our uniforms could be really cool with a couple tweaks, namely some white on the tops and anything on the pants. Road unis are pretty sick as is, but the home unis leave a little to be desired. Still much better than anything from the Rhoads/Chizik/McCarney unis.

I'll make another push (for the addition of '70's sunflower gold, at least I think I might) with the AD, after the "new" unis come out. They undoubtedly will have some flaws, namely "the current gold/yellow only".

We'll just have to wait and see. So many other, bigger issues right now, it seems.

You’re exactly right. I think the football team should be reclaiming patterns from the Niners. Brock has never looked better.
