New turf going down

The hybrid grass stitching technology is pretty slick, could see a lot of U.S. stadiums moving in that direction. Lots of UK/Europe football stadiums have already transitioned.
I know they use that at Lambeau. I see the CycloneTurf twitter account retweeting stuff about the hybrid threading, so maybe they will be threading once the roots take.

I wonder that, too.

Related: What was the general expiration for the previous field?

I'm curious how many complete re-sods have occurred since JTS went to grass and what's the expected life of it. I'm sure that info is available but I'm too lazy to search.

I want to say after the Drake game season it was already a couple years past needing replaced. Under normal to decent conditions that filed was fine but that fall was brutal.

I may be wrong but when the tore out the sod in 08 I don't think they redid the subsoil like this time around. When they started digging dirt in the endzones you could see years of blue that had leaked into the soil.

So long as he doesn't insist on a new hybrid grass that is black instead of green.
Wow, would that be hotter than hell on a sunny September day game.

I know you are joking but I believe the NCAA has put a halt to any new creatively colored fields. New fields have to be green but existing ones like the Smurf Turf are grandfathered in.

Thankfully, even those turfs must have an expiration date. Er, right?

I don't recall a rule actually existing on this. The NFL bans it, but I don't think the NCAA does.

I honestly cannot watch a game on a blue or red surface. What were they thinking?

The field would have been a problem that day no matter what it was made of. I don't think artificial turf is less slippery in rain, snow or ice storms. The advantage is that it doesn't have to "repair" itself. Once it dries out, its good to go.

Oh yeah that field would have been a mess no matter what but some of the early season damage wouldn't have occurred.
