What are some good bars? Where do you people go on the weekends? Help me out so I don't have to pay for a cab home from downtown please.

I love it here but I'm 45, married and have kids. Break your lease and move to the plaza.

I have a few single fiends that live in op. I was down there a couple weeks ago. We went to this bar that was 4 or 5 different bars all owned by the same guy and it was all in one strip mall. And fenced in so you could take your drink from bar to bar. I don't re,e,her the name of any of the bars though.

The Other Place is a good Cyclone hangout and it's down in OP. OPBUTTREY is right though. The burbs are more for families. The Plaza and Power and Light are the place to go if you're in your 20's without kids. I'd strongly advise you not to drink/drive from downtown. The 5-0 love to set up checkpoints. Really not worth it.

Screw "the other place," it's the one squawk eye bar in town. They go out of their way to support iowa and ku more than ISU. Seriously, we've had ISU events there....donated ISU items (framed pics, etc) for them to put up on their walls to support us...and they won't do it. Believe me, I'm on the board down here and I get ticked when we have an event there... It is going to be changing this fall. I would recommend going to the Peanut in OP if you are in the area.

Places to go:
(Westport)
Kelly's THE ISU BAR in town (they go out of their way to support ISU)
Ernie Bigs (piano bar)

(Brookside- MO side)
Charlie Hoopers
The Brooksider

(Waldo - MO)
The Well

(Closer to Downtown - Union Hill)
Velvet Dog
Sol
Drop
Haus (German bar/restaurant)

But I agree, live closer to the Plaza... Close to all the going out and dining locations that are best in the city. OP and Olathe feel too far south... Unless you have family now... Or your work is down that way is the only reason to live out there. ( Don't get me wrong... It's a nice area obviously.)

For the sake of not wasting your youth move to the plaza asap. I lived in Olathe for about six months and its only worthwhile feature is the Indian creek trail if you are into running or biking.

How old are you?

I live in overland park (but wish I lived in the Plaza/westport area but I dont want the longer commute)

If you are looking for a party bar that is not in PNL or the plaza. One block south/Kanza hall in overland park is probably your best bet. Although I would recommend Westport or Waldo but the cab will be a lot cheaper from Kanza.

If you are looking for a place with a variety of beers I would recommend Barley's Brewhaus.

And the Other Place should be you game watch location.
