Tidbit for fans of First Fleet, it was actually started in the dorm rooms at ISU.

i was in a band and he booked a few larger acts that we ended up opening for. i think his name was sam?

I would not say old, but maybe don't work as hard for your music anymore.....

Sam Summers, yeah was linked with Maintenance Shop while at college than started to expand. The guy gets it.... Also the creator of Hinterland

The Joy Formidable are awesome. I am putting that one on my list for sure.

Yeah, I might have to check this one out. I don't know much about him other than the songs that typically pop up on spotify, but Dearly Departed and Hardwired are excellent tracks.
Check out his Audiotree live recorded albums. The 2013 5-track album is awesome, the youtube recording give you a better appreciation, toured back than as 1 person.... Roll The Bones, best track by fire, goosebumps everytime...

Wanted to bump this, after 80-35 the crew I was with decided to head over to Chicago for Riot Fest. Anyone been to that in that past? We are loving the Saturday lineup as the crew have very tight punk roots (Descendents, Social D, F'd Up, The Vandals, Hold Steady, MCS, The Hives, White Lung and Bob Mould).....

damn. Wish I would've seen this before the 22nd. Totally would've gone to see Shakey Graves

I went - it was awesome. He is a great entertainer, just oozes his music. It was a really good show.

Was anyone else there?

Me too of course .... The opener was even awesome!!! Street of Laredo from New Zealand... Was such a great show, ended up sold out too..... My only disappointment was not hearing a few tracks and all the draft beer running out....

I only knew a couple of SoL's songs prior to the show, but I also loved that they had a very Texas name and were from New Zealand. :) That gave me a chuckle. What was the keyboard thing they kept blowing into?

It really was just awesome. Shakey has such a just COOL voice. Not bad on the eyes, either - but I love it when you go to a show and it's even better than the albums, rather than hearing a performance where you realize that the artist was completely doctored for their albums.

Wanted to, but my wife and I are expecting pretty much any day now. I'm on standby 24/7. Probably gonna cost me the Hinterland show as well. Kids...they ruin everything. Sometimes before they're even born.

Yeah, being unable to get out of the parking lot at a festival and missing your child's birth would probably NOT win you "husband of the year" status. ;)

Hmm. Should have planned "something" better, I'd say.
