You realize Dunn just doesn't go out there and decide to do a rugby style punt right? The type/direction of the punt is always called before the punt team even takes the field. Most of the time it is a directional call to kick to a certain spot. Hardly ever is the call "kick it as far as you can".

Was he good last year? not really but it's a pet peeve of mine for people to not know that the style of punt is called by the coaches.

I just assumed that the poster was suggesting that the coaches stop asking him to rugby punt.

Let Dunn rugby punt if he gets it down, he is an Aussie after all, and can be useful for certain situations. He was a pre-season Ray Guy nominee last year till some first game jitters. Crazy that i think he turns 27 in October.

Classic thread: when Dunn was on CF actually answering questions (about his age, resemblance to the Sweatin’ to the Oldies host, etc.) Seemed to have a great sense of humor and didn’t take posters too seriously.

No offense to Dunn personally but some of his punts last year were absolutely terrible. A little competition and a security blanket will be nice to have.

No. Too many other things fall in the "coulda woulda shoulda" to blame any one person or play.

But it was one of about 5 things in that game, that, had they gone the other way, the good guys probably win.

I think the defense held on both of the terrible punts. Might've only given up 3 points if my memory serves. But we were losing the field position battle all day.

No, I get that. Just seemed like the staff was in love with the rugby style early on when it clearly wasn't working. The Special Teams coach moved on and maybe that was his call. Dunn did get a lot more consistent as the season went on, but he killed us in that iowa game.

Coaches make the call but in practice he was a stud with the rugby style kicks if I remember. Then he tried in game and it was a flop. I think that’s why we saw them try at least once and when it was a bad kick the rest were normal style

I believe he is immediately eligible being that he is a walk-on. If not then Rivera will start.

We had less than 200 yards of offense. Rushed 25 times for 19 yards. QB rating in the 20's. Plus had 65 yards in penalties. Offense was non-existent.
