We don't know. We were generally pretty lubed before the game, it was easier to sneak booze into the game, and we often left soon after halftime to get more lubed due to the sobering reality of that period of Cyclone football. If you watch any games on YouTube from the early 90s/late 80s, it sounds like cyclone stadium had the most god awful PA system invented. I’ve heard cheap bull horns that sounded better. Was it that bad in person or did the tv broadcast just make it sound worse than it was?

I can see this. I don’t want him boring though.I can do without all of the editorial ********, the glib quips/catchphrases, and the screaming for people to stand up on 3rd down.
I think it's a really good hire. As a die-hard WBB fan, I watched the Iowa GBB State Championships early this year and I like his voice. I hope he can develop his own trademarks at ISU for the days to come.
The part I like the most in that Cyclone Sidebar article is:
For the few individuals out there having second thoughts about a University of Iowa graduate calling Cyclone games, you should not worry. Hammen has an easy rebuttal.
“I have to remind people on occasion there was another guy that was an Iowa graduate, a gentleman by the name of Pete Taylor, who made the transition pretty well. I intend to do the same thing.”
By the time of the exclusive broadcasting contract started, yes, Pete Taylor was an established broadcaster. But when Pete started broadcasting games for KRNT in the 1970s, he was barely out of college. Everyone has to get a start. John Walters got his start as a college intern working for Pete Taylor at KCCI.He should spare us the Pete Taylor comparisons for now. Pete was an established broadcaster when he started calling Cyclone games, not the voice of the Urbandale Jayhawks.

I would have canceled donations and season tickets. no effing way. not that d**che canoe.Don’t know much about him but glad they aren’t doing a younger person. I had fears about the Iowa nice guy
Either way, it will be different without the two old guys.
University of Iowa grad to boot.
Why? It's a completely valid pointThis guy can **** way the hell off if he's bringing the great Pete Taylor into this.
Why? It's a completely valid point
Well that’s rediculous. And I don’t think he’s the ass here.Earn that ****. Keep the legend's name out of your mouth until you actually do something
Until then this ass can **** himself sideways

The comparison is that they are both Iowa graduates who ended up calling Iowa State games. Nothing to do with talent level or experience.
