New OC announced on

The only thing that concerns me is the fact that the qb was the leading rusher. I know other than Dillard their qb was the best player on offense but im not surethe qb needs to be our leading rusher

I'm going to post controversial opinion . . .

and it's this: Good job, Jamie Pollard.

That seven-hour talk he and PR had must have been beneficial. PR appears to be an impressive fellow, and PR's hires so far appear to be impressive men.

I'm one fan who is far happier at this stage of PR's Cyclone tenure than I was with GC's at a similar stage. Great to know many, many other ISU fans feel the same way about PR.

PR is just JP's second-ever HFC hire. PR and his staff, so far, appear to not only have terrific professional experience and skills, but it just seems like this staff is a fit for Iowa State University and Cyclone Country fans.

Of course, proof is in the pudding, but great start. imho.

Arnaud is a good runner, but he won't be our leading rusher by far. I don't think we will mimic Rice's offense exactly. A good coach will figure out what works for the team and the athletes he has at his disposal.

I was all about Paul Rhoades being our new head coach. With all these great assistants to back him I think Iowa State football is going to be okay. Way to go and welcome to the Cyclone family Coach Herman!!! Excited to have you here:yes: Go Cyclones baby!!!

At least you spelled one name right...

And the spread finally comes to Ames.

Rice is in a weak conference, but they've put us some impressive numbers.

I like the fact he's from California, coached a lot in Texas, and is really smart like Coach Rhoads. He should be able to recruit well.

Now we need to have an impressive Defensive Coordinator come in and we'll be set for the recruiting season.

This seems to be a good hire, but like someone else said, our offense was pretty damn good this year. It's the playcalling that killed us on many occasions. This offense, w/the guys we have, is ready to go. I don't think we need to revamp it completely.

This will be a don't eff it up type thing as far as I'm concerned.

Right now, I'm thinking of all the posts that said, OMG!!! Our defense is finally going to be dominant with Chizik at the helm.

I don't know how impressed Bo will be, ill probably try to talk to him soon about it, But Tiller will be elated, and the receivers are pretty excited. Bo came to ISU to touch the ball 20+ times a game, I think he will be mild about it because Herman finds ways to get his playmakers the ball.. We'll see.

I have only Bo play in the spring game last year and he was the most impressive player I saw all day. He will get the ball enough to make him happy, unless this coach is ******* retard.

First of all, Chizik did not coach the defense. He was hands off in favor of Bolt. Secondly, what Herman has done is with non-BCS talent. All that Chiz had done was with award-winners at Auburn and Texas.

I agree with your point, but it should also be noted that Herman did it against non BCS competition in most cases.

Chizik actually effed our D instead of improving it, regardless of how he accomplished it.

Herman would have to be an idiot to screw our O...since he's a member of mensa, I have to believe he'll get it right.

rhoads is doing an awesome job.
bo skipped out on florida because mr tebow was playing mr ball hog at florida and bo was not getting any carries.
i bet mr. bo and schwartz get plenty of touches this coming year.bo could be our next 1000 yd rusher.
i will make a prediction that there will be a big fight for the qb position between arnaud an tiller. also look for money reynolds to get a shot at qb during summer training.
the cyclones will fare much better under rhoads than we did under chizzlestick.
nest year is a great recruiting year(2010) in texas for good quarterbacks. probably the best in a long time-there are about 10 -12 good high school qbs in texas for recruiting for the 2010 year-i don't know who the recruiting coordinator is but i have sent about every name that has not committed from texas to pollard, rhoads, chris ash and ryan mckim. hope we can land some good ones b4 signing date.
GO CYCLONES!!!!!!!!!

I have to believe he has an annexation of Puerto Rico type play with his Mensa ability

Maybe PB left too soon.

Very good hire, imo. The excitemnt is back w/ this staff so far. I hope the players buy in to the new staff and coaches, and I think the recruits will too. To be fair, we might not see the added recruits we may really need this year, but who knows. I have a good feeling about this staff. It never hurts to be positive.

Perhaps, as previously mentioned, retaining McFarland might be good. Help to utilize some of the same offensive sets we used this year, but add a more spread attack, keep the defense guessing and defending the entire field. I trust PR though, I think he knows what he's doing. We do appear to have the offensive weapons now to field a spread offense. Mix up the sets like Cincinnati did/does, gradually add to the playbook as the players get used to it.

Now I'm just as anxious to find out who the DC will be.
