New Big 12 logo

For those of us who are visual people, and since we didn't get a glimpse of any variations today, I took the liberty of doing some hack photoshop work on the logo with a few teams (you're welcome, Big 12 marketing):

You can really start to see the brilliant simplicity that they were going for. Although, they could have designed something that looked a little different than the FAU or Tapout logo and still kept the simplicity. But, I'm starting to like it more and more with the different variations.

Edit: Added the other teams. These are all from the schools RGB's
I like that.

The color mockups for each team were what I had in mind. This logo can be used for many purposes, and I like that.

Which would be what, exactly? In roman numerals XII = 12. There are ten teams in our league so I'm getting the message that either the number of teams in the league is not clear or Bob Bowlsby can't count...

it's the big 12 conference. if you want to talk about changing the name that's another conversation. i like the logo for the reasons i gave above.

and all this fascination with the horns is unbecoming. but it is still july and conversations do get silly this time of year. reality guys, if not for the horns some of us would be scheduling trips to boise and new mexico.

Good idea -- I didn't realize Pac-10 did that.

I have a feeling Big 12 didn't get that creative. Hope I'm wrong, though.

The Big 12 has had institution-specific logos since about 2004, with the school colors in the XII and school name in the "banner". There's also a secondary version with the school logo included. They just aren't widely used by the schools.

Just read that the brand won't be official and complete until next July??? Having gone through a rebranding that is nuts. Sure it is a lot of work and putting togethor the style guide etc. is an ordeal especially for the marketing departments ents of 10 schools. But this will force all kinds of projects to be on hold for 1 year and merchandise stuff with the brand in it cant be replaced essentially for 1 year (Or sstuff wull be printed not branding the conference). Plus they let it out and will have a year of using and building a brand they are abandoning tqlk about not having a clean break. I can see full integration within 1 year but not not starting the rollout for a year...wow

I don't have an issue with the similarity, it's just the first thing that jumped out to me when I saw the logo.

Reality - Texas would have bolted for the Pac-12 if that conference hadn't turned thumbs-down on the LHN...don't make Texas out to be some Big 12 "loyalist."

Relax man...I'm just one person over here...it takes time to roll these out...I keed I keed. I was also disappointed that they said that. I didn't read the full quote, but I hope that means that it will be fully implemented by next July (I hope).

Here is another one, taking some inspiration off the old banner idea.

I like it... though now it reminds me of hotwheels.

What's really sad is that they probably paid some marketing firm $500k to come up with this thing.

I'm not saying it's bad, but it sure wouldn't take a genius to come up with. My 10 year old daughter could have come up with that, and she only would have charged $10 bucks.
