New Basketball offer

It was clarified earlier in this thread. Coaches can't initiate contact until the student-athlete's Junior year.

However this doesn't mean that GMAC can't tell his high school coach (Vance Downs) or AAU coach (Jake Sullivan) that ISU would like to offer one of their player's a scholarship.

I will also never forget how he taught me rules of pick-up basketball in Beyer Hall when I was a freshman.

I blocked a Ronnie Harris shot during a pickup game in Beyer, after which he mopped up the floor with me! This'll be a very cool story to tell everybody I know once his son is suited up in the Cardinal & Gold! Oh wait, I already tell everybody this story....:laugh8kb:

Harrison Barnes is a player, period!!

Catch some game this summer or next season throughout the state.

So....do you have an opinion on this recruit, or are you just here to argue the rules?

Well, since the only thing I know about this "recruit" is his name, I don't have an opinion about him. He also has two full years before his verbal means close to anything as well, so it wouldn't matter either way. What would happen if he decides to verbal somewhere else in 2009? Most likely, ISU fans would get upset, but it wouldn't matter. The whole premise of this thread is laughable because of this. Why care now, when he has four years to listen to other offers and take them to go somewhere else? I'll look into him in about three years and get excited about his abilities (or lack there of) at that time.

The post that started this thread just stated a fact that most people didn't know at the time, and it pertained to ISU basketball...I guess I really don't understand what the poster did wrong...?

At the time, the original poster posted a "fact." That is to say, they posted something that, at the time, could have been interpreted as either fact or fiction because the only "evidence" was a "friend of the family" source.

If it is true, which it appears to be, I don't really care. However, if you're going to post something as truth, use something better than "a friend told me" or "my cousin said that..." unless you are on the MBB staff and can prove that to me.

If you need hard press releases start searching cyclones.com i believe the reason people like this site is because it is a way to get information before it becomes announced.

I hope the coaches don't have your same attitude. Lets only get excited for high school seniors. That wouldn't be any fun.

I'm not quite sure that I appreciate Cyclone62's bashing of my cousin. He's a stand up guy that I would trust with my life. If Cyclone62 would get to know him I'm sure he would change his tune. My cousin and I also both share a love for urban camo.

Thanks for letting us know where you stand, I'll shoot you a PM before I decide to post anything from now on. I just want to make sure what I'm posting is relevant according to you.

Cyclone62 tried to be clever and call out somebody he thought was posting false information. The information was susequently established to be truthful - or at least back up by other sources, which is as close to truth as you get around here. Every post by 62 after that is a crazy-fast backpedal or restructuring of his opinion to cover up the mistake.

It was a hoot watching it develop.:sweet:
